POLL: Should Barack Obama be arrested?

22

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has released declassified documents alleging that former President Barack Obama and his administration orchestrated a “treasonous conspiracy” to fabricate intelligence suggesting Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The documents include over 100 pages of emails and memos indicating that Obama’s team, including officials like James Clapper, John Brennan, and Susan Rice, manipulated intelligence to create a narrative that Russia helped Donald Trump win, despite earlier assessments stating Russia lacked the intent or capability to influence the election through cyberattacks. A key revelation is a December 8, 2016, Presidential Daily Brief stating that Russian actors “did not impact recent US election results” through cyberattacks, which was allegedly suppressed by Obama’s team to push a contradictory narrative. Gabbard claims the discredited Steele dossier was used to bolster this false narrative, sidelining dissenting intelligence community voices.

Whistleblowers who have come forward since the document’s release have expressed disgust at the politicization of intelligence, with one being removed from discussions after questioning the narrative shift. The documents suggest that a December 9, 2016, National Security Council meeting, attended by Obama and top officials, initiated a new intelligence assessment to attribute election interference to Russia, contradicting prior findings.

Gabbard has forwarded these documents to the Department of Justice for potential criminal referrals, targeting figures such as Obama, Brennan, Clapper, and Comey, who are already under investigation for related activities. There is growing Republican support for prosecuting those involved, with lawmakers like Rep. Troy Nehls and Sen. Mike Lee praising Gabbard’s efforts and calling for accountability to prevent future abuses. Democrats, including Rep. Jim Himes and Sen. Mark Warner, have denounced the claims as baseless and politically motivated, citing bipartisan Senate findings confirming Russian interference.
