49 White South Africans, primarily Afrikaner families, arrived at Dulles International Airport in Virginia as refugees under a Trump administration program.
They were greeted with red, white, and blue balloons, and many waved small American flags, symbolizing their new start in the United States. The group, including families with young children, was resettled across 10 states, supported by local refugee organizations providing housing and job assistance.
The Trump administration justified their resettlement by claiming they faced racial discrimination and violence, specifically citing black ultraviolence against white farmers in South Africa. President Trump and allies like Elon Musk have alleged a “white genocide,” pointing to farm attacks and a new South African land law allowing expropriation without compensation. South Africa’s government strongly denies these claims, calling them politically motivated and asserting that Afrikaners face no systemic persecution.
Critics, including left-leaning groups and refugee advocates, oppose the resettlement, arguing it prioritizes white South Africans over others fleeing war and famine, labeling it a racially biased policy. The Episcopal Church even ended its refugee resettlement partnership with the U.S. government, citing moral objections to the preferential treatment of Afrikaners. The expedited processing of these refugees, bypassing standard procedures, has fueled accusations of hypocrisy and unequal treatment from leftist organizations.
We want to ask you, the reader: do you support the resettlement of White South Africans in the U.S.? Answer in our poll below and comment your thoughts on certain groups resisting the resettlement.
