POLL: Do you feel the federal government lacks in providing aid and security to American Christians?

On Friday, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced a $110 million allocation to over 600 faith-based organizations and nonprofits nationwide to enhance security measures, prompted by a deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis that killed two and injured 18.

The funds, administered through FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program, will support security upgrades, including cameras, gates, and training, to protect against terrorist attacks. Notably, a significant portion of these funds, approximately 85%, is directed toward Jewish organizations. In contrast, Christian organizations receive approximately 10% of the funding, with the remainder distributed among other faith groups, including Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Sikh institutions. This allocation follows a June 2025 announcement where $94 million was awarded specifically to 512 Jewish organizations.

The disparity in funding reflects disproportionate distribution. In the U.S., Christians make up roughly 65% of the population, while Jews constitute about 2.4%, according to recent demographic data. This funding distribution has sparked discussion, with some questioning the balance given the demographic differences. Noem emphasized the Trump administration’s commitment to protecting all faith communities, stating the funds prioritize safety over political projects.
