In fact, nearly 80 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more to join their loved ones, with 71.7 million traveling by car and a record 5.84 million taking to the skies.
While the holiday brings joy and unity, the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 or more has risen to $68.20, up 4% from last year. This reflects inflation’s lingering impact on food prices, including traditional staples like turkey, potatoes, and pie.
This year’s Thanksgiving follows the controversial 2024 election, which resulted in President-elect Donald Trump defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. Political tensions could make conversations at the dinner table challenging and awkward.
The holiday remains an opportunity to bridge divides and celebrate shared traditions, reminding us of the importance of unity and hope during difficult times. But sometimes, life-centric conversations take root, and sometimes, they involve political discussions.
