President Donald Trump has doubled down on the excessive usage of the autopen during the Biden administration, as it is believed that Biden wasn’t even aware of many things his team was slapping his signature on.
Right before Biden left office, an unprecedented number of pardons were issued – all using the autopen. One exception is the blanket pardon for his son, Hunter Biden, which was reportedly signed by Joe Biden in his own handwriting.
When asked in March about the executive orders signed by Biden’s autopen, Trump said they should be null and void, but added, “It’s not my decision. That would be up to a court.”
However, clearly feeling more certain of his authority on the matter, Trump announced in a Truth Social post Tuesday that “Any and all Documents, Proclamations, Executive Orders, Memorandums, or Contracts, signed by Order of the now infamous and unauthorized “AUTOPEN,” within the Administration of Joseph R. Biden Jr., are hereby null, void, and of no further force or effect.”

This means the preemptive pardons issued to Former NIH Director Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley, and the lawmakers and staffers from the January 6 House committee, including former GOP Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois; and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif, are all null and void.
