From 13ABC Action News: Entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has filed paperwork with the Ohio Secretary of State’s office signaling that he is running for governor of his home state.

3 – Trump-Backed Candidate Announces Campaign To Flip Swing-State Governorship Red
From Fox News: Arizona Republican Karrin Taylor Robson launched her comeback gubernatorial bid on Wednesday, setting up a likely showdown between her and another pro-Trump Republican running to take on the incumbent Democrat governor next year.

Robson, a small business owner and lawyer, launched her campaign with a new ad centered on President Donald Trump’s return to the White House and her desire to help take back her state from incumbent Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.

Robson lost her primary bid in 2022 to Trump-backed Republican nominee Kari Lake, who would go on to narrowly lose the gubernatorial race to Hobbs. However, Robson garnered early support from Trump less than two months ago during his visit to Arizona as president-elect.

4 – Trump official threatens to run against Kamala Harris for California governor
From the New York Post: President Trump’s envoy for special missions Ric Grenell said Friday that he’s considering running against Kamala Harris for California governor next year.

Grenell, 58, told reporters at the Munich Security Conference that he believes the former vice president is vulnerable if she attempts a political comeback after her blowout loss to Trump on Nov. 5.

“If Kamala Harris runs for governor, I believe that she has such baggage and hundreds of millions of dollars in educating the voters of how terrible she is, that it’s a new day in California, and that the Republican actually has a shot,” Grenell said.

“I wouldn’t say no” to running, he added.

5 – Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of Guardian Angels and former NYC Mayor candidate, announces another run

Sliwa announced Friday:

I have officially filed to run for Mayor of #NYC. My campaign is for the working people of New York City, the ones who power it everyday. I’m running for the victims of crime, violence, housing insecurity, and homelessness who have been ignored for way too long. I’m running for every New Yorker who feels one paycheck away from being pushed out of the place we call home.

We are united by the issues we face as New Yorkers in the city we all love, not by our political party. New Yorkers are suffering to get by, while City Hall fails to lower costs and keep us safe year after year.

The political “elite” running New York City have built a corrupt establishment designed to serve themselves, not you. They work to preserve their power. They are afraid that when you vote, their money train ends. I am not afraid of them, and together we can stop them.

6 – Early Polling From Key Senate Race Looks Grim For Democrats
From the Daily Caller: Georgia Republican Gov. Brian Kemp leads Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in a head-to-head matchup for the 2026 Senate race, according to a new survey from a GOP-aligned polling firm.

The poll, conducted by the Tyson Group and shared exclusively with the Daily Caller News Foundation, found Ossoff leading several other potential GOP candidates outside of the poll’s four point margin of error. Georgia’s 2026 Senate race is one of Senate Republicans’ best pickup opportunities to expand their 53-47 seat majority during the upcoming midterms, and Kemp is seen by many in the GOP as a slam-dunk candidate to ruin Ossoff’s reelection bid.

On Jan 28, Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) also announced he will not be running for re-election in 2026.
