FROM WASHINGTON EXAMINER: GoFundMe confirmed Sunday it removed all fundraisers for Decarlos Brown Jr., a suspect in a homicide case in North Carolina.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified Brown, 34, as the suspect in the murder of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska. Zarutska was living in Charlotte after fleeing the war in Ukraine, and sustained multiple knife wounds while traveling on a train in the city on Aug. 22.
Screenshots of GoFundMe fundraisers for Brown were shared by multiple people on X Sunday, though the fundraising organization said these have now been taken down.
A GoFundMe spokesperson told the Washington Examiner:
“GoFundMe’s Terms of Service explicitly prohibit fundraisers that raise money for the legal defense of anyone formally charged with an alleged violent crime.”
Brown was charged with first degree murder after a horrific incident caught on tape.
“Consistent with this long-standing policy, this fundraiser has been removed from the platform and the donors who contributed to the fundraiser have been fully refunded,” the spokesperson confirmed.
Zarutska’s family also has a GoFundMe campaign. It has raised over $60,000.
The mainstream media has been blasted for ignoring the case, as the major networks have not covered the newsworthy story.
I’ve reported both fundraisers currently still listed for DeCarlos and recommend others do the same. They currently have zero donations.
