From Daily Mail: Barack and Michelle Obama were set to meet with director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele on Sunday night before it emerged that the couple had been found stabbed to death inside their Los Angeles home.
Michelle shared their plans as she spoke about Reiner, her longtime friend, on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night.
‘We’ve known them for many, many years and we were supposed to be seeing them that night – last night – and we got the news,’ the former First Lady told Kimmel.
“Let me just say this, unlike some people, Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know,” Obama said. “They’re not deranged or crazed.
“What they have always been are passionate people in a time when there’s not a lot of courage going on. They’re the kind of people who were ready to put their actions behind what they cared about.
“And they cared about their family, and they cared about this country, and they cared about fairness and equity – and that is the truth,’ Obama said, declaring: ‘I do know them.’
Police say Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were stabbed to death, and that their son, Nick, is “responsible.”
