From The Hill: California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) asked a federal judge to immediately intervene on Tuesday to limit President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles.
Newsom asked for an emergency ruling by 1 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, a lightning-fast timeline.
“Federal antagonization, through the presence of soldiers in the streets, has already caused real and irreparable damage to the City of Los Angeles, the people who live there, and the State of California. They must be stopped, immediately,” the motion states.
Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) sued Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth a day earlier over Newsom’s objection to Trump authorizing several thousand National Guard troops to go into Los Angeles to quell immigration protests, which at times have turned violent. The Pentagon is also deploying 700 Marines to the city.
The case was assigned to U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer, an appointee of former President Clinton who serves in San Francisco. He is also the brother of retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer.
“I just filed an emergency motion in court to immediately block the ongoing and unnecessary militarization of Los Angeles. The federal government is turning the military against American citizens. This is unprecedented and threatens the very core of our democracy,” Newsom fumed.
“Donald Trump is behaving like a tyrant, not a President. By turning the military against American citizens, he is threatening the very core of our democracy. I’m asking the court to immediately block these unlawful actions,” he raged in another post.

Rioters went ballistic while federal immigration officials were conducting a criminal investigation into a money laundering scheme and cartel activity in a town in the Los Angeles area on Friday, and claimed that ICE was conducting mass raids and arresting everyone.
The rioters began attacking the federal agents, including throwing rocks at their vehicles, and it escalated from there, as they looted stores, set cars on fire, and more, while Newsom did nothing to stop the chaos, and simply blamed it on Trump.
The Democrat governor continues to double down. He posted a video Tuesday and claimed, “The Trump Administration is mobilizing an additional 2,000 National Guard troops to inflame tensions in LA, impacting the state’s wildfire prevention & fentanyl task force efforts. Trump doesn’t care about protecting Californians. He’s militarizing our state & provoking chaos.”

Meanwhile, President Trump blasted Newsom Tuesday morning with the following statement:
If I didn’t “SEND IN THE TROOPS” to Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now, much like 25,000 houses burned to the ground in L.A. due to an incompetent Governor and Mayor –
Incidentally, the much more difficult, time consuming, and stringent FEDERAL PERMITTING PROCESS is virtually complete on these houses, while the easy and simple City and State Permits are disastrously bungled up and WAY BEHIND SCHEDULE! They are a total mess, and will be for a long time. People want to rebuild their houses. Call your incompetent Governor and Mayor, the Federal permitting is DONE!!!
Trump also addressed the violence during an Oval Office event Tuesday morning.
