The controversial radio shock jock Howard Stern ended speculation about his future Monday, confirming he’ll stay with SiriusXM after a prank by Andy Cohen joking he’d replace him.
Stern didn’t specify if he’s renewed his contract, which expires in 2025, but did state the following: “Here’s the truth: SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future. They’ve approached me, they’ve sat down with me like they normally do and they’re fantastic.”
Forbes ranks Stern as the world’s highest-paid radio personality, largely due to his five-year, $500 million SiriusXM deal signed in 2020.
Stern, the self-styled “King of All Media,” rose from local stations in New York, Connecticut, and Detroit to WNBC in 1985, launching national syndication. By 1992, he was No. 1 in both New York and Los Angeles, hosting guests from Mick Jagger to Oprah—and even Donald Trump during his businessman days, despite later political clashes and becoming a notorious critic of the president.
In 2005, Stern left terrestrial radio for Sirius, citing clashes with station management and FCC censorship over his vulgar style of hosting.
So unbelievably scripted and lame. This unauthentic shit is a perfect example of the Howard Stern Show since 2013. https://t.co/bXEiqXARVU
