The wide majority of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominees have widespread support among Senate Republicans, and are expected to be confirmed into office. However, some Senate Democrats are still doing everything they can to stall and delay the process.
Below are details on just two of Trump’s nominees that Democrats are trying to throw down a roadblock to slow down their confirmations.
1 – Senate Committee Delays Pam Bondi’s Attorney General Confirmation
From Breitbart: Attorney general nominee Pam Bondi’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing is delayed one week, according to a committee’s notice on Monday. The committee hearing was initially scheduled to approve her nomination for a full Senate confirmation vote.
A committee spokesperson told Breitbart News the delay is due to Democrats on the panel but did not pinpoint which Democrat it is. The committee’s notice reads:
Per Judiciary Committee Rule I.3, any member of the Committee may request an item on the Committee’s agenda be held over for a minimum of seven days. Holds are common practice in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Pursuant to this rule, the Minority will hold Bondi’s nomination for seven days. As a result of this hold, which goes into effect tomorrow, the Committee will not meet in person for this week’s executive business meeting.
The Committee expects to reconvene next week, on January 29th, to hold a final vote on Bondi’s nomination.
Some journalists are speculating that the Democrat to blame for holding up Bondi’s confirmation vote is Sen. Adam Schiff (Calif.).
🚨 JUST IN: Democrats have put a HOLD on Pam Bondi’s nomination, delaying Bondi’s confirmation as Attorney General for at least 7 days, per Sen. Grassley
It must be because she absolutely HUMILIATED Adam Schiff.

2 – ‘Obstructionist Democrats’ Block Swift Confirmation Of Trump’s CIA Nominee John Ratcliffe Despite Garnering Bipartisan Support
From the Daily Caller: Senate Democrats on Tuesday evening blocked the swift confirmation of John Ratcliffe, who is President Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the CIA.
Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy objected to a time agreement that would have expedited the confirmation of Ratcliffe, who was director of National Intelligence during the first Trump administration. Murphy’s refusal to give Ratcliffe a swift confirmation vote could be the first of many objections by Senate Democrats to drag out the confirmation process for Trump’s cabinet nominees.
Murphy’s objection to Ratcliffe comes after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer appeared to commit to working with Senate Republicans on confirming Trump cabinet nominees evaluated by Senate Democrats to be “qualified” to lead their agencies.
“Democrats have been very clear about our approach to President Trump’s nominees,” Schumer said in a statement Monday. “We will neither rubber stamp nominees we feel are grossly unqualified, nor will we reflexively oppose nominees that deserve serious consideration.”
Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, slammed Murphy’s objection to Ratcliffe. Cotton said that Ratcliffe advanced out of the Senate Intelligence Committee with just three Senate Democrats in opposition. The panel’s top Democratic lawmaker, Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, also supported Ratcliffe.
Cotton declared, “My message to obstructionist Democrats: “Don’t make plans this weekend. We’re going to get President Trump’s nominees confirmed the easy collegial way, or apparently the hard way.”

In another statement on Tuesday, Cotton wrote:
My statement with @MarkWarner on John Ratcliffe’s nomination to lead the CIA:
“This afternoon, the Senate Intelligence Committee voted in a bipartisan manner to report the nomination of John Ratcliffe to serve as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Our world is far too dangerous for any delay in having a Senate-confirmed leader in charge of the CIA. We urge expeditious consideration of this important nomination.”
