From the Washington Examiner: New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani will be sworn into office by his progressive inspirations: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Mamdani will take office as the city’s first Muslim mayor just after midnight on Jan. 1.

James will swear him in for the ceremony following New Year’s Eve, and Sanders will do so at his inauguration celebration. The transition was dubbed “Inauguration of a New Era” and will include a public block party.

“It is an honor to be sworn in by two leaders I have admired for years: Attorney General Tish James and Senator Bernie Sanders,” Mamdani said in a statement.

“Attorney General James has taken on powerful interests in her defense of New Yorkers and embodied the principle of equal justice before the law,” he added. “Senator Bernie Sanders laid the foundations for our movement with his steadfast commitment to the dignity of working people and his belief in a government that serves the many, not just the few. I can think of no better leaders to help usher in a new era for New York City.”

“Honored to be sworn in soon as New York City’s 1̶1̶1̶t̶h̶ 112th mayor, marking the beginning of a new era for the city that puts working New Yorkers front and center,” Mamdani declared in one post on X.

On Friday, the Democrat Socialist was still begging for money to his fund his transition.
