FROM DAILY CALLER: President Donald Trump demanded on Thursday that Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan resign from his position over his alleged ties to Communist China.
Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton raised concerns about Tan’s ties to dozens of Chinese companies in a Tuesday letter to the Intel Board of Directors, including some that reportedly “have ties to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.” Trump stated on Truth Social that the only solution is for Tan to resign from his position.
Cotton pointed out that Tan had most recently served as the CEO of Cadence Design Systems, an electric design automation company that pleaded guilty on July 28 to “illegally selling its products to a Chinese military university” and transferring its technology to a Chinese semiconductor company. These actions reportedly happened while Tan was still CEO.
“Intel is required to be a responsible steward of American taxpayer dollars and to comply with applicable security regulations,” Cotton wrote. “Mr. Tan’s associations raise questions about Intel’s ability to fulfill these obligations.”
“The CEO of INTEL is highly CONFLICTED and must resign, immediately. There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention to this problem!” Trump said in his Truth Social post.
Tan, who assumed the role of Intel CEO in March, is said to have invested a substantial amount of at least $200 million over several decades in over 600 Chinese companies.
Reuters reported in April that he had invested in at least eight companies with connections to China’s military.
Tan also held control over over 40 Chinese companies and, in many instances, shared minority stake ownership with Chinese government entities.
The new CEO of @intel reportedly has deep ties to the Chinese Communists. U.S. companies who receive government grants should be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and adhere to strict security regulations. The board of @Intel owes Congress an explanation. pic.twitter.com/3rYhHge6Wa

I just spoke with Intel. Ohioans and the American people deserve the truth. I shared that I expect answers to the questions Sen. Cotton has asked in his letter, and they promised me they would respond promptly.

President Trump is right, @intel owes American taxpayers answers TODAY.
Intel accepted tax dollars from the CHIPS Act, and instead of investing in America, they cut jobs in the U.S. and hired a CEO with a cozy relationship to the CCP. The CHIPS Act was intended to benefit… https://t.co/Tz0LpYf4ZD
