Jeffrey Epstein’s victims will return to Capitol Hill next week, hosted by a bipartisan group of lawmakers urging the Trump administration to release government files on the sex offender.
Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) hosted an event with Epstein survivors last month to rally support for a petition demanding the release of secret files and plan a similar gathering outside the Capitol on October 8.
The discharge petition has 217 signatures—one short of the 218 needed to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files. Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is expected to provide the final signature once sworn in. However, the timing remains uncertain as Democrats press Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to hold the ceremony during this week’s pro forma sessions.
Johnson, who previously swore in Republicans during pro forma sessions, has refused to do the same for Grijalva, angering Democrats who accuse him of stalling to block the petition opposing the release of the Epstein files. Speculation Friday suggested GOP leaders might also cancel next week’s House return, further delaying her swearing-in.
