NEWS ALERT: Unearthed posts expose close ties between Kamala Harris friend running for Congress and top Chinese executive

Progressive ‘Squad’ member Cori Bush will be leaving Congress in January, but it appears another one will be taking her place.  Please see story below:

From Fox News: A decades-long friend and mentee of Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for Congress in California, has been friends with a top executive of a CCP front group for over a decade, a Fox News Digital review found.

In early 2022, a year before James Chau became the president of the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), he wrote on Twitter, “Belated best wishes to my friend and sister [Lateefah Simon] as she builds on her years is [sic] service [Akonadi Foundation] to lead Meadow Fund.”

“These are complex times — yet also times in which skill and compassion count even more,” he continued. “Looking forward to seeing the deep impact of your work.”

Simon, who is currently running for Rep. Barbara Lee’s House seat and was a key speaker at the 2024 DNC convention on behalf of Harris, responded, “I love you James. Hong Kong this summer!”

“You have the freehold on my heart, Chau responded to Simon on Feb. 18, 2022.

Fox News pointed to another Twitter exchange between the pair from November 7, 2020, in which he tagged her in a post, and she responded with a heart emoji.

In October 2020, Chau wrote in a Twitter post, Watching this important discussion on the history of black organising in Oakland—one of the centers of global civil rights. Introduced by the brilliant @lateefahsimon @akonadi_oakland.”

Who is Lateefah Simon?  Simon, 47, a far-left progressive, will likely end up in the U.S. Congress, as she won the state primary election for California’s 12th Congressional District in a massive landslide. She is a progressive who has focused heavily on “racial justice,” and wants illegal aliens to be given citizenship.

Simon was born legally blind, so she cannot drive, and relies on public transportation. She describes herself on her campaign website as a “25-year veteran organizer and nationally recognized advocate for civil rights and social justice.”

Included on the list of priorities on her website are: Public safety, healthcare for all, reproductive freedom, racial and social justice, immigration, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights and ‘democracy reform’, climate and environmental justice.

Simon has called to reduce funding for police on public transit, and replace them with “unarmed ambassadors.”

On immigration, she calls for “a system that would disentangle the criminal system from the immigration system and expand legal pathways to work authorization and citizenship”.

“Lateefah was chosen by then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris to lead the creation of Back on Track, an anti-recidivism initiative for young adults charged with low-level offenses,” her website touts.

“Lateefah was also appointed by then-Governor Jerry Brown to serve on the Board of Trustees for the California State University, the nation’s largest public university system, where she offered strategic advice on policy matters related to racial justice in higher education,” her website also states.

In a February 2023 campaign video, Simon bragged that her district is the “birthplace of the Black Panther Party.”

In a recent campaign ad, Simon claims, “I’ve fought alongside Kamala Harris to reduce crime and increase opportunity, and I’ll lock arms with her now to ban assault weapons, deliver real public safety, and build the housing that fosters lasting community.”

Running against Simon in the race for the U.S. Congress seat is another Democrat, Dr. Jenifer Tran, a university professor whose parents were Vietnamese refugees.

Tran is going after Simon on social media, calling her a “Defund the Police Queen.”

In the California primary, Simon and Trans were the two top vote-earners.  Simon raked in over 86,000 votes, while Tran received nearly 23,000.  Based on those results, Simon will likely become the next “Squad” member in Congress.

Tran shared a link to a Washington Free Beacon article on Monday, which exposes Simon as an “early proponent of the “defund the police” movement” who has extremely close ties to Kamala Harris. Below is an important excerpt from that report:

But before she first ran for president in 2019, Harris, 59, maintained close—and public—ties to Simon, 47, for a time period spanning 20 years. The future vice president pushed Simon to finish college, gave her a government job, introduced her to her late husband, officiated their wedding, and eulogized him at his funeral. She also campaigned for Simon’s successful 2016 race to join the board of directors for the Bay Area’s crime-ridden BART public train system, where Simon would try to defund its police force by $2 million.

Simon has also spent years working for liberal billionaires, bankrolling efforts at left-leaning criminal justice reform and anti-police projects while—in her most recent job working for the wife of Netflix billionaire Reed Hastings—earning a salary of almost $558,000 a year.
