From Breitbart: The government of Ukraine confirmed on Monday that it is in the “final stages” of an agreement on selling rare earth minerals to America, a deal President Donald Trump floated as a way for America to get a return on its investment in supporting Kyiv against Russian invasion.

The announcement of the “final stages” of a deal, made by Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna, followed comments by President Volodymyr Zelensky in which he expressed hesitation about signing off significant rights to Ukraine’s plentiful rare earth minerals or in heavily indebting Ukrainians in the future. Zelensky’s remarks, after a turbulent week in which Trump disparaged Zelensky as a “dictator” and implied he should vacate the office, led many in international media to conclude that Ukraine would ultimately decline any such agreement with Washington.

Stefanishyna, however, insisted on Monday that the deal was not only still happening, but almost complete.

In a post on X Monday morning, Stefanishyna announced, “Ukrainian and U.S. teams are in the final stages of negotiations regarding the minerals agreement. The negotiations have been very constructive, with nearly all key details finalized. We are committed to completing this swiftly to proceed with its signature. We hope both US and UA leaders might sign and endorse it in Washington the soonest to showcase our commitment for decades to come.”

President Trump confirmed during an Oval Office presser with French President Emmanual Macron Monday afternoon, “The deal is being worked on and I think we’re very close to getting an agreement where we get our money back over a period of time… We’re in for $350 billion… and we had nothing to show for it. That was the Biden admin’s fault.”

President Trump posted the following statement on Truth Social at noon Monday:

Today, President Emmanuel Macron of France joined me in the Oval Office to speak to the G7 Summit. The meeting was convened by Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, the current chair of G7, to acknowledge the Third Anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine War – Which would have never started if I was President.

Everyone expressed their goal of seeing the War end, and I emphasized the importance of the vital “Critical Minerals and Rare-Earths Deal” between the United States and Ukraine, which we hope will be signed very soon! This deal, which is an “Economic Partnership,” will ensure the American people recoup the Tens of Billions of Dollars and Military Equipment sent to Ukraine, while also helping Ukraine’s economy grow as this Brutal and Savage War comes to an end.

At the same time, I am in serious discussions with President Vladimir Putin of Russia concerning the ending of the War, and also major Economic Development transactions which will take place between the United States and Russia. Talks are proceeding very well!

Earlier this month, President Trump explained in a Fox News interview why he wants the money back that the U.S. spent on Ukraine.

Democrats are fuming that President Trump is making a deal for Ukraine to reimburse the United States.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) threw a hissy fit on Sunday, as he wrote, “United States support for Ukraine was never about securing mineral rights. Or providing security for money. It was about democracy and sovereignty. And a willingness to defend our allies and oppose our enemies. Trump is betraying Ukraine, but also our values. Our history and our legacy.”

Ex Obama Ambassador Michael McFaul also attacked President Trump for his pending mineral deal with Ukraine in an MSNBC appearance.

“I find this deal just atrocious and embarrassing as an American. We are asking them to repay us for assistance that our Congress and our president signed.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent explained the minerals deal in an appearance on Fox News Sunday with host Maria Bartiromo.

Zelenskyy released the following statement  on social media Monday, after participating in a G7 leaders meeting.

The traditional G7 leaders’ meeting with Ukraine’s participation and a very important signal of support for our country and people.

It was a productive meeting, with principled words from the majority by most of our partners. We strongly count on the unity of the world—Europe, America, all parts of the world and nations who want to live in peace, based on predictable rules and international law.

We all strive for peace and want to make it as reliable and lasting as possible. Today, we discussed the need for security guarantees for Ukraine and real ways to ensure an end to this Russian aggression and prevent any new one. Peace is needed.

I thank everyone who is helping.
