From CNBC: A phone call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin entered its second hour on Tuesday, with the leaders expected to discuss a 30-day ceasefire proposal to pause the war in Ukraine.

Russia is expected to lay out its own conditions for a break in the fighting during the call, which could include all weapons shipments to Ukraine being halted, according to unnamed sources cited by Bloomberg.

Trump has signaled that the U.S. could be willing to compromise with Russia, too.

“We will be talking about land. We will be talking about power plants,” Trump told reporters Sunday, when asked about concessions to Moscow in negotiations to end the more than three-year war in Ukraine.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino shared an update during the call, writing on X at 10:54 am ET, “Happening Now—President Trump is currently in the Oval Office speaking with President Vladimir Putin of Russia since 10:00amEDT. The call is going well, and still in progress.”

At 11:32 a ET, Scavino added, “Update: Call still in progress…”

President Trump had announced in a Truth Social post on Monday, “Tomorrow morning I will be speaking to President Putin concerning the War in Ukraine. Many elements of a Final Agreement have been agreed to, but much remains. Thousands of young soldiers, and others, are being killed. Each week brings 2,500 soldier deaths, from both sides, and it must end NOW. I look very much forward to the call with President Putin.”
