From the Daily Caller: Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) could not begin construction on a proposed Muslim neighborhood due to legal issues, according to a press release.

EPIC has proposed building a Muslim ‘city’ on 402 acres of land in Texas the organization labeled “EPIC City,” according to Newsweek. The proposal includes building over 1,000 homes, a school based on the Islamic religion, a college, a mosque and retail operations. Texas authorities began an investigation in response to the project.

EPIC failed to obtain proper authorization and the permits needed for their construction project, the press release from Abbott’s office said. The commission also sent a letter to EPIC and its affiliates demanding that they confirm no construction activities have occurred.

“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality found that the group behind the proposed EPIC compound did not submit the required permits to begin construction,” the governor said. “They must confirm within seven days that they are immediately ceasing any construction of their illegal project or face the full weight of the law. The State of Texas will enforce its laws and protect our communities from unlawful actions or threats posed by EPIC or its affiliates.”

In mid-February, a video was posted on X by Dr. Yasir Qadhi, a Pakistani American Muslim scholar and theologian, who is dean of The Islamic Seminary of America and resident scholar of the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.

In the now-deleted video, Qadhi announced, “We are constructing an entire city half an hour from downtown Dallas.” He said it will be a city of over 1,000 people. The website was launched last year, and the entire Phase 1 area of EPIC CITY was sold out within days. Now they are opening up EPIC RANCHES 1 and 2, due to the high demand. The project was scheduled to be built in the northeast area of Dallas, and is all laid out on the group’s website: http://TheEpicRanches.com.

After massive backlash erupted from the public, Qadhi has deleted the video on X. However, it was captured and reposted by other social media users, including Amy Mek, who has been exposing the whole scheme. Below is the video, touting the planned Muslim city, right outside of Dallas.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott immediately declared, in response to the video, “To be clear, Sharia law is not allowed in Texas. Nor are Sharia cities. Nor are “no go zones“ which this project seems to imply. Bottom line. The project as proposed in the video is not allowed in Texas.”

Gov. Abbott released a statement on April 1, and announced that EPIC City may not begin construction. “@TCEQ found that the group behind the proposed EPIC compound did not submit the required permits to begin construction.”

Responding to a post from Riley Gaines, Abbott added, “And Sharia law is outlawed in Texas under a law I signed in 2017. Texas is investigating EPIC City for many allegations, including attempts to circumvent that law. All entities in Texas must follow state law, not Sharia law.”

Last Monday evening, dozens of Texans showed up at a hearing before the Collin County Commissioners Court in an effort to stop the Islamic East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) from building their Muslim city in the northeast area of Dallas.

Videos from the meeting were shared on X by Amy Mek.

One local resident declared, “We didn’t come here to build a Guatemalan Catholic compound. We assimilated. We became American. Why is Epic building a city where everything is Islamic—the school, the mosque, the fitness center, even the medical clinic? That’s not diversity. That’s ideological takeover. This is not okay with the American people!”

Mek shared another video from the meeting, as a Dallas resident delivered a chilling warning:

In one of the most sobering testimonies against the EPIC City Islamic enclave, a Dallas resident delivered a powerful warning drawn from personal experience: “I spent three years living and working in the Middle East. I’m telling you—this is not just a housing project. Islam is a way of life. And this development is part of a much bigger movement.”

Caldwell directly addressed Texas officials and decision-makers, urging them not to be short-sighted: “You’re not approving a neighborhood. You’re becoming a cog in the wheel of something far larger. The developers themselves are calling it the ‘epicenter of Islam in the West.’”

His advice? Call Dearborn. Call Europe. Ask the leaders there—how did it happen? Why did they allow it? And how do they live with the consequences?

“There are legislative leaders across Europe today asking: How in the world did we get here? You are in the process of defining that answer—for the United States of America. Do your due diligence. And be proud of the legacy you leave behind.”

This was not just a warning. It was a wake-up call. Texas, you are at a crossroads. Will you uphold assimilation, American law, and shared values—or allow the first Islamic microstate on U.S. soil?

Mek posted yet another clip from the meeting, as concerned Dallas residents voiced their opposition to the proposed Muslim city:

Jasmine Bayless, who fled communist Vietnam as a Christian child, gave powerful testimony warning Texas leaders about the EPIC City development: “We escaped religious persecution under communism. Now I see a similar threat taking shape in Texas—EPIC City excludes outsiders and rejects American values of unity. This isn’t integration. This is isolation.”

Also at the meeting, a woman named Sonia who once lived in Saudi Arabia with her husband and sons spoke out against the proposed muslim city.

Gov. Abbott announced during an appearance on Fox News Thursday night that a criminal probe has been launched into the “EPIC City” development.  WATCH:

“Texas is investigating EPIC City for many allegations. I directed multiple state agencies to get to the bottom of it. The Texas Rangers also opened up a criminal investigation. Sharia law is not allowed in Texas,” Gov. Abbott wrote on X.

Defiantly, Yasir Qadhi, leader of the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) in Plano, Texas, released a statement announcing they have hired an attorney, Dan Cogdell, due to the “hateful” attacks against their community.
