From the New York Post: A suspected terrorist who allegedly planned to kill Lady Gaga fans in a sickening attack on her record-breaking Brazil concert was deported from the US only last month, Brazilian authorities have revealed.
Luis da Silva, 44, wanted to livestream the execution of children and set up bombs close to the stage during Gaga’s performance to 2.5 million fans on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, investigators said.
“He said that the singer was a Satanist and that he was going to perform a Satanist ritual too, killing a child during the show,” Rio de Janeiro Civil Police secretary, officer Felipe Curi, told reporters on Monday.
Authorities are investigating why da Silva was removed from the United States.
Da Silva and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody just hours before the concert went ahead after authorities uncovered their alleged murderous plot.
Rio de Janeiro police said in a report, “They planned to use Molotov cocktails and explosive backpacks.”
Police also stated that Da Silva and the 17-year-old suspect had used the social media platform Discord to try to recruit others, including teens, to carry out attacks against children and members of the LGBTQ+ community who were attending the concert.
Brazilian authorities carried out search warrants against nine people in the states of Mato Grosso, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Sao Paulo. Da Silva was arrested on an illegal gun possession charge in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, while his teen accomplice was arrested for possession of child pornography at his home in Rio de Janeiro, the report explains.
Police reportedly did not notify Lady Gaga about the threats prior to her concert on Saturday, as they wanted to avoid a ‘panic.’
Sao Paulo congressman Erika Hilton released the following statement on X, but instead of pointing fingers at the suspects, she appears to simply be calling for more censorship on social media. Hilton wrote:
Once again, criminals were arrested for using social media to lure teenagers, encourage pedophilia and spread hate speech against women and minorities. But this time, they planned to detonate bombs at Lady Gaga’s concert with the aim of killing LGBTQIA+ people, children and teenagers.
Fortunately, they were stopped in time by the Ministry of Justice and the Rio Civil Police. But yesterday’s gigantic and historic party almost turned into a tragedy. A tragedy that would have, once again, LGBTQIA+ people as its victims.
Hate and dehumanizing speech continues to grow on social media, now openly encouraged by its owners. Speeches that turn into a discord group, a self-harm challenge, a virtual rape, a bomb attack, a death.
The whole of Brazil cannot have, as its only strategy to combat this, hoping that the Justice Department and the Police find these criminals before they commit terrorist attacks or physical violence.
In the meantime, boys have been co-opted, girls have been traumatized, and lives have been destroyed. But we continue to depend on luck and specific investigations that dismantle a group, while other groups continue to be fully active on the networks.
Social media needs to be regulated. These people need to be punished severely. And it is necessary to point the finger: why does the Bolsonarist bench in Congress continue to try to prevent any kind of progress against this behavior?

According to a local news report, da Silva had lived illegally for almost three decades in the United States.
