NEWS ALERT: Speculation swirls about potential indictment of former FBI Director James Comey and NY AG Letitia James

From CNBC: Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted on criminal charges in the coming days in federal court in Virginia, MSNBC reported Wednesday.

Comey for years has been a target of President Donald Trump, who fired him as FBI director early in his first term in the White House.

News of the potential indictment comes days after the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia resigned under pressure from Trump after opposing the filing of charges against Comey in that district.

The prosecutor, Erik Siebert, was replaced as interim U.S. Attorney on Monday by Lindsey Halligan, who has represented Trump in legal cases in the past.

However, a source with the Justice Department said in a statement to Fox News, “DOJ officials are close to deciding whether to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey for allegedly lying to Congress in September 2020. There is a grand jury underway looking at the matter in Virginia. A decision could come any day.”

MSNBC claimed in news broadcasts on Wednesday that both Comey, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, are expected to be indicted in the coming days.

FLASHBACK: A video has resurfaced of Comey denying that there was any surveillance of the Trump campaign – a claim that has now been proven false.
