NEWS ALERT: Sen Josh Hawley announces who he’s backing for next Senate Republican leader, conservatives erupt in outrage

From Fox News: Republican senators will select a new Senate GOP leader next week, and Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., has endorsed Sen. John Cornyn, R-Tx., for the role.

GOP senators will vote via secret ballot on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

“I’m backing John Cornyn for majority leader,” Hawley said in a statement. “In the last two years, nobody has done more to win back the majority than he has. He tirelessly raised millions of dollars for competitive Senate races, including mine.

“He has a heart for people: He has voiced his support for the RECA compromise that would fairly compensate hundreds of thousands of Americans poisoned by their government, including so many in Missouri,” Hawley continued.

“And I know he will work closely and effectively with President Trump to deliver on the promise of our new majority. I’m delighted to give him my support,” he concluded.

Current Republican senate leader, Mitch McConnell, is stepping down from the role.

Also running for the position of Senate Majority Leader are Republican Sens. Rick Scott of Florida and John Thune of South Dakota.

The majority of conservatives are rooting for Sen. Rick Scott, as Cornyn and Thune are seen are more “establishment” senators, instead of Trump supporters.

Derrick Evans, a former Jan 6 political prisoner and former member of the West Virginia state House, wrote, “Just when I think Josh Hawley is legit, he goes and does something like this. Cornyn is another Anti Trump Mitt Romney. @HawleyMO you need to rescind this endorsement immediately.”

Civil rights lawyer and conservative commentator Leo Terrell voiced his fury, writing, “Shame on you Senator Josh Hawley @HawleyMO! NEVER CONTACT MY OFFICE! WHY DO YOU SUPPORT A TRUMP HATER? ARE YOU A RINO AS WELL? DO YOU SUPPORT MAGA? 75 MILLION MAGA SUPPORTERS AND I DEMAND YOU ANSWER THE ABOVE REFERENCED QUESTIONS WITHIN 24 HRS!”

“Josh Hawley just took off his mask here. Unforgivable,” declared lawyer Rogan O’Handley.

Prominent X user Wall Street Silver wrote, “Big disappointment. I thought Josh Hawley was one of the good Senators. Then he goes and supports the next Mitch McConnell.”

Investigative journalist Laura Loomer announced: “JUST IN: Senator Josh Hawley @HawleyMO is supporting Trump hater John Cornyn @JohnCornyn in the race for Senate GOP leader. Cornyn’s top strategist called Donald Trump a “psychopath”, and Cornyn said Trump can’t win in 2024. The only MAGA choice for Senate GOP leader is @SenRickScott.”
