NEWS ALERT: Progressive Parkland survivor launches bid for Nadler’s congress seat

From The Hill: Parkland shooting survivor Cameron Kasky has launched a bid for Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D-N.Y.) seat, joining the likes of Jack Schlossberg — former President Kennedy’s grandson — in the race for New York’s 12th Congressional District.

“My name is Cameron Kasky, and I’m running for Congress because there’s no real path forward for most Americans. You and your family are working all week just to spend most of your paycheck on rent and health care,” Kasky said in a video posted to the social platform X on Tuesday.

“Meanwhile, the richest people in our country are telling us that we can’t afford real solutions like social housing and Medicare for All,” he added.

Kasky co-founded the March For Our Lives movement, which pushed for stricter gun laws following the Parkland, Fla., shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. He left the group later that year.

Kasky, 25, a progressive Democrat and gun control activist, said on his website that his campaign is “not just about taking on MAGA: it’s about disrupting the system where both parties have paved the way for Trump’s regime. In the face of rising authoritarianism, Cameron is ready to take the fight back to Capitol Hill and represent progressive values for the greatest city in the world.”

“Medicare For All. Stop Funding Genocide. Abolish ICE. #YesWeCam,” Kasky wrote, sharing his campaign video while announcing his far-left radical agenda.

He slammed wealthy people and declared he wants to see the streets lined with federal housing, instead of the National Guard.

Kasky is supporting NYC mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s vow to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he ever comes to New York.

“It is utterly atrocious that Benjamin Netanyahu can enter this country without immediately being arrested. He is a wanted war criminal, and history will remember our complicity in the crimes against humanity committed by the State of Israel’s right wing nationalist government,” Kasky snarled.

Kasky just turned 25 last week, which is the minimum age a person must be to run for Congress.
