From Fox News: Authorities have confirmed the boyfriend of a Virginia mother who was arrested after her two young sons were found chained to a post by their ankles is an illegal immigrant.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed to Fox News’ Bill Melugin that one of the suspects charged in the Fairfax County, Virginia, child abuse case is a Salvadoran illegal immigrant previously deported in 2019, but he reentered as a gotaway at an unknown time and location.

“Franklin Arquimedes Viera-Guevara is an unlawfully present 29-year-old Salvadoran national. U.S. Border Patrol arrested Viera Nov. 1, 2018, after he unlawfully entered the United States near McAllen, Texas,” ICE said in a statement.

The agency said Viera-Guevara was processed for expedited removal and removed from the United States to El Salvador Feb. 1, 2019.

At some point, Viera-Guevara snuck back into the U.S.

According to a report earlier this week by Fox5DC, the two children, ages 7 and 9, were living with their mother, 47-year-old Wedni Del Cid Rodriguez, and her apparent partner, 29-year-old Franklin Viera Guevara.

ABC News reported that, according to court records, in 2019, a then-16-year-old daughter of the mother obtained an emergency protective order, and the mother was charged with misdemeanor assault.

In the most recent incident, the 9-year-old boy had managed to borrow a cell phone from another person who lived in the apartment, and texted a photo of his chained ankle, who called 911.

When police showed up on the evening of August 15, they found the two boys chained next to a cot.

Rodriguez and Guevara told investigators that they chained the children up by the ankle for short periods of time to “scare them” so they wouldn’t leave the apartment.

Rodriguez and Guevara were both arrested on August 16. The mother has since been released while awaiting trial, but Viera Guevara, an illegal aliien, remains jailed.

According to WRC-TV, the boys are now in the custody of their father, who did not live in the apartment and was not charged.

Melugin announced in a social media post:

ICE confirms to @FoxNews that the suspect charged in Fairfax County, VA in a horrific child abuse case where two boys, ages 7 & 9, were found chained at the ankles, is a Salvadoran illegal alien who was previously deported in 2019, but re-entered as a gotaway at an unknown time/location.

The two children are brothers, and they were found in their mother’s home. She has been arrested, as has her boyfriend, Franklin Arquimedes Viera-Guevara.

ICE statement:

“Franklin Arquimedes Viera-Guevara is an unlawfully present 29-year-old Salvadoran national. U.S. Border Patrol arrested Viera Nov. 1, 2018, after he unlawfully entered the United States near McAllen, Texas. Viera was processed for expedited removal and removed from the United States to El Salvador Feb. 1, 2019.

“Viera unlawfully re-entered the United States on an unknown date, at an unknown location and without being inspected, admitted, or paroled by a U.S. immigration official.

“Fairfax County Police arrested Viera Aug. 16 for two counts of child abuse/neglect: reckless disregard for life, two counts of child endangerment while in one’s custody, and two counts of child abduction: by force. Later that day, ERO Washington, D.C. lodged an immigration detainer against Viera with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.”

“ICE tells FOX they have had no interactions with the mother,” Melugin added.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin reacted to the case in a fiery social media post.

“Another despicable crime committed by an illegal immigrant who is not supposed to be here. Too many innocent Virginians have suffered under the open border policies of the Biden-Harris Administration. Local officials in Fairfax County must uphold their duty to cooperate with ICE and keep Virginians safe. Enough is enough,” Youngkin wrote.

“Prosecute this criminal to the fullest extent of the law and deport him,” he added in fury.
