From the New York Post: An off-duty Border Patrol agent was shot in the face after being robbed by a moped-riding illegal immigrant in a New York City park — but he shot back and wounded his attacker, according to sources.
The 42-year-old off-duty agent and a female companion were sitting on a rock along the Hudson River in Fort Washington Park in Manhattan when they were approached by the two men on a moped around 11:50 p.m., according to police sources.
After a brief exchange and tussle, one of the moped-riding men fired a gun and hit the victim in the face and left forearm.
The man then drew his own pistol and fired multiple shots at the preps, according to the NYPD.
The two suspects, described as Hispanic males, then fled the scene on the motorized scooter.
Later, one of the suspects walked into a Bronx hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the chest, and was arrested. He is described as a 21-year-old from the Dominican Republican who entered the U.S. illegally in 2023, during the Biden administration.
The second suspect is reportedly still on the loose.
The off-duty Border Patrol agent was rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery, and is expected to survive.
Police said the shooting happened near the Little Red Lighthouse in Fort Washington Park, located underneath the George Washington Bridge.
DHS announced in a statement that “One of the alleged perpetrators was an illegal alien with prior arrests for felony 2nd and 3rd degree assault and an order of deportation.”
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin added, “DHS says this suspect is a previously deported Dominican illegal with an active criminal warrant out of the state of Massachusetts for kidnapping.”
DHS posted NYPD surveillance video footage of the entire incident. The two suspects are seen arriving on the moped. One gets off and appears to approach the victims from behind. The suspect and the off-duty Border Patrol agent are seen exchanging gunfire, and the suspect then staggers back to the moped and they drive away.

Melugin then added more details, along with photos of the gunman, courtesy of DHS:
NEW: DHS confirms that the suspect was caught and released at the border by the Biden administration in 2023. Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican illegal alien, was arrested by Border Patrol near San Luis, AZ on 4/4/23, but was released into the US by the Biden admin.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin also posted the illegal alien gunman’s photo and wrote, “Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez is a national and citizen of the Dominican Republic and allegedly shot a brave @CBP officer. He illegally RE ENTERED the U.S. and was RELEASED under Biden. The other suspect is still at large. Pray for this agent and his family.”

CBS News New York reported on the shooting, but never made a single mention about the suspect being an illegal alien. The reporter eventually noted that the man shot in the face was an off-duty Border Patrol agent, and then appeared to imply that he was involved in a “dispute.”
According to other reports, the incident was not a “dispute” but an attempted robbery.
