From Axios: Protestors are taking to the streets and community hubs nationwide on June 14 in what organizers expect will be the largest single-day anti-President Trump rally since the start of the administration.
Why it matters: The widespread movement will run counter to Trump’s multimillion dollar military parade in D.C.
“No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance,” organizers wrote. “From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism.”
The Trump-hating group bizarrely claims that Americans have been deported.
“They’ve defied our courts, deported Americans, disappeared people off the streets, attacked our civil rights, and slashed our services. The corruption has gone too. far. No thrones. No crowns. No kings,” a statement on their website reads.
The website provides a map of the entire United States, showing every city where protests are being planned for this upcoming Saturday, June 14. The group is planning to hold protests in over 1,500 cities, coast to coast.
However, they are intentionally NOT holding a protest event in Washington, D.C., where President Trump’s military parade will be held, as they say they want to create a “contrast,” not a conflict.
One of the spokespeople listed on the website is teachers union president Randi Weingarten.
And one person who has taken out a full-page ad in newspapers nationwide to spread the word about the protests is Christy Walton, whose late husband, John Walton was a son to Walmart founder Sam Walton.
Christy Walton, 76, reportedly has a net worth of over $19 billion, and is a major supporter of The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump superPAC, donating $20,000 to the group in January 2020, and another $10,000 in May 2020.
Now Walton has shelled out money to take out a full page ad in newspapers across the nation, telling people to “mobilize” on June 14 for the NoKings protests.
Christy Walton paid for this political advertisement against Trump in major newspapers nationwide.
The event calls for “a nationwide day of defiance” and for people to “rise up” on June 14th.
