FROM NEW YORK POST: The sister-in-law of former presidential nominee and ex-Utah Sen. Mitt Romney was found dead on a street in a Los Angeles suburb Friday evening, according to officials and reports.
Carrie Elizabeth Romney was discovered dead on a street near a shopping mall parking garage in Valencia, Calif., at around 8:30 p.m., TMZ reported.
She was 64 years old. Her death is being investigated, and a cause and manner have not yet been determined, according to records from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office
The investigation is ongoing as officials work to determine the cause, mode, and manner of death. It is “unknown at the moment” if Carrie “jumped or fell,” Los Angeles County Deputy Brenda Serna wrote in an email to The Post.
Carrie Romney is married to Mitt’s brother, George Scott Romney. It has been revealed that George filed for divorce four months before Carrie’s tragic death, according to the Daily Mail. They reportedly separated on May 25.
The outlet reports that, “George – who goes by Scott – filed for divorce on June 10 after just over eight years of marriage, according to files obtained by the Mail. It was the 84-year-old lawyer and politician’s third marriage. Scott is the father of former RNC chairman Ronna McDaniel through his first marriage.”
Mitt Romney has released a statement, saying, “Our family is heartbroken by the loss of Carrie, who brought warmth and love to all our lives. We ask for privacy during this difficult time.”
