From ValleyCentral.com: Measles cases nationwide jumped dramatically this week, according to new numbers reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.

Nearly half of states are now reporting cases of the highly contagious virus, which can spread “like a forest fire” through unvaccinated or undervaccinated communities.

At least 483 cases are now confirmed in Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Washington, according to the CDC.

At the beginning of the month, the number of confirmed cases was just 164.

The CDC is now updating the page on their website about Measles cases every Friday.

A notice on the page reads: “There have been 5 outbreaks (defined as 3 or more related cases) reported in 2025, and 93% of confirmed cases (447 of 483) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 16 outbreaks were reported during 2024 and 69% of cases (198 of 285) were outbreak-associated.”

At least 400 of the Measles cases confirmed since late January have been in Texas.

A new outbreak with at least 10 cases was confirmed in Ohio this week.

One health official noted that, on average, one person who has measles may infect about 15 other people.

Bizarrely, one health official, Dr. Ashish Jha, tried to blame it all on HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., claiming he is spreading “misinformation.”
