Panic and confusion erupted on social media Wednesday morning, amid unconfirmed reports that police had found explosives in a car on Long Island, near the site where former President Donald Trump will be speaking at a rally Wednesday evening.

Although Trump is not scheduled to speak until 7:00 pm, thousands of people have already started lining up, and their cars are parked in the area.

One America News Network journalist James Lalino first announced in a social media post:

Sources in the Nassau County Police Department just told me that “the perimeter was breached and a blue barrel was removed” from the area surrounding tonight’s Trump rally site.

Source said “During K9, doing their checks, they found an explosive device in one of the vehicles and that driver ended up running into the woods. No one saw if he had anything on him, they just saw him take off running. A lot of cars are now parking, they’re lining up on Hempstead Turnpike, just parking on the grass. Even over at Eisenhower Park, they’re just parking over there.”

However, according to journalist Collin Rugg, the report of explosives found were a false alarm. Rugg wrote:

Nassau County Police Commissioner says reports of explosives being found at the Trump Long Island rally site are “unfounded.”

“Reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site,” said Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder.

The NCPD also posted a statement, first writing, “Reports that an explosive device was found at the Nassau Coliseum are FALSE.”

RAWSALERTS also shared an update stating, “Officials are now [saying] reports of explosives being found at the site are unfounded. There is a person who is being questioned who may have been training a bomb detection dog near the site. The individual with the bomb dog falsely reported explosives being found and that individual is currently being detained by the police.”

Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra also shared a statement from Nassau County Commissioner of Police Patrick Ryder, confirming the report of explosives found was false.

A video shared at 9:32 am ET shows a massive crowd already waiting – and Trump won’t take the stage for another 10 hours.

Students for Trump chair Ryan Fournier wrote, “WOAH. The Trump Campaign has received more than 60,000 ticket requests for the Long Island, NY rally. The Nassau Coliseum only seats 16,000. This is WILD!”
