President Donald Trump is facing massive backlash from his own support base after he announced Monday that he plans to allow 600,000 Chinese students to attend American universities.

“I hear so many stories about how we’re not gonna allow their students. We’re gonna allow their students to come in. We’re gonna allow 600,00 students. It’s very important, but we’re gonna get along with China,” Trump said while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office.

This comes after Trump said in June that he would allow 500,000 Chinese students to study at American universities, and added that he wants them to stay in the U.S. after graduation.

During a Cabinet meeting Tuesday morning, President Trump defended allowing 600,000 Chinese students to come to America, and claimed that if we didn’t let foreign students come to U.S. universities, “our college system would go to hell very quickly.”

“We check, we’re careful, we see who’s there. But we have a tremendous college system. That’s why China sends them here. Call it an industry if you want…I’m honored to have the students from China come here,” Trump said.

Many of Trump’s most loyal supporters are furious over the announcement, and declaring, “This is NOT what I voted for.”

Journalist Laura Loomer wrote, “Paging @StephenM [Stephen Miller.] Nobody, I repeat nobody, wants 600,000 more Chinese “students” aka Communist spies in the United States. China murdered 1.2 million Americans. Now they get to replace us? This cannot happen.”

In another post, Loomer added, “They aren’t really students though. They are Chinese Communist spies. Would be great to kick all of these Chinese spies out of the US.”

DMLNewsApp founder Dennis Michael Lynch warned, “This move is worse than Obama sending $$$ on pallets to Iran.”

Gen. Michael Flynn declared, “Not what I voted for…”

China expert and author Gordon Chang asked, “600,000 Chinese students in our country? Do we really need hundreds of thousands more spies here?”

Fox News host Laura Ingraham slammed the proposal while speaking to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick Monday night.

Journalist Chris Rufo wrote, “We can’t accept 600,000 Chinese students. If anything, we should reduce the number of Chinese visas, especially for students with political connections to the CCP.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) blasted out the following statement:

“We should not let in 600,000 CHINESE students to attend American colleges and universities that may be loyal to the CCP. If refusing to allow these Chinese students to attend our schools causes 15% of them to fail then these schools should fail anyways because they are being propped up by the CCP.

“Why are we allowing 600,000 students from China to replace our American student’s opportunities? We should never allow that. And we need more trade school graduates. Trade schools are a GREAT alternative and produce the essential education and training for the most needed jobs in America with very high starting pay.”

Lucas Vaughn replied to Greene’s statement, writing:

Nailed it, and here’s the real kicker that makes this even worse.

Absolutely, letting in up to 600,000 Chinese students was indeed baked into the June 2025 trade truce with China, where Trump reversed a potential visa crackdown in exchange for Beijing restoring US supply chain access. But that doesn’t justify handing over our universities to potential CCP loyalists when we’ve got over 224 documented cases of Chinese espionage targeting the US since 2000 alone, with trillions in intellectual property stolen through students and researchers at our schools. In fact, around 80 percent of economic espionage prosecutions here involve links to China, including recent indictments for swiping trade secrets right out of American academic labs.

These spots should go to our own kids pursuing real opportunities, not subsidizing foreign spies while universities chase that easy tuition money. Pushing trade schools instead builds self reliance with high paying jobs in manufacturing and tech that actually strengthen America.

Enough compromising our security for short term deals, time to put America First and lock this down for good.

Xi Van Fleet, an anti-communist immigrant from China, specualated, “There won’t be 600,000 Chinese students coming anymore. With China’s economy collapsing and college graduates facing bleak job prospects, fewer parents have the money nor are willing to make such an investment. Those who still can are mostly the children of CCP elites—and that is the group we should be most concerned about.”

Lily Tang Williams, another Chinese immigrant who is a Republican running for Congress, wrote, “They need to be well vetted as many of them are working for CCP, they are the kids of the powerful and wealthy. It is their plan to use “soft power invasion” to take over the USA as the #1 global power. China’s National Intelligence laws in 2017 mandate them to spy for CCP.”

“We must vet them. China’s National Intelligence laws in 2017: Article 7: All orgs. & citizens must “Support, assist, and cooperate” (支持,协助和配合): Implies active participation, such as providing information, resources, or access when requested by intelligence authorities,” Williams added.
