From Fox News: FBI Director Kash Patel found a trove of sensitive documents related to the origins of the Trump–Russia probe buried in multiple “burn bags” in a secret room inside the bureau, sources familiar with the incident told Fox News Digital.
Sources told Fox News Digital that the “burn bag” system is used to destroy documents designated as classified or higher.

Sources told Fox News Digital that one of the documents FBI officials found in a burn bag was the classified annex to former special counsel John Durham’s final report, which includes the underlying intelligence he reviewed.
The classified annex is now being declassified, and will later be turned over to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, who is then expected to release the document to the public.
An anonymous source familiar with the case who spoke to Fox News said, “Ultimately, the release of the classified annex will lend more credibility to the assertion that there was a coordinated plan inside the U.S. government to help the Clinton campaign stir up controversy connecting Trump to Russia.”
Both Patel and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino had revealed in May that they had discovered files from the era when former director James Comey was in charge, and said they believe the files were stashed away on purpose.
“We have found material… and I’m the Crossfire Hurricane guy… that I didn’t even know existed in FBI holdings,” Patel said, adding, “That’s been stashed away in locations that people thought we wouldn’t find it because we wouldn’t know to look for it there.”

“There was a room, and we found a lot of stuff, A hidden room. I wouldn’t call it hidden, but hidden from us, at least, and not mentioned to us. We found stuff in there, and a lot of it’s from the Comey era,” Bongino explained, adding that once the files were declassified, “You’re going to be stunned.”
