NEWS ALERT: Jury in Trump assassination attempt trial of Ryan Routh begins deliberating

From Fox News: Jurors in Fort Pierce, Florida, began deliberations Tuesday in the federal criminal trial of Ryan Routh, the man accused of attempting to assassinate then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at his Palm Beach golf course last year.

Routh, 59, faces five federal charges, including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate, assaulting a federal officer, and multiple firearms offenses. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Prosecutors used their closing arguments Tuesday to emphasize both the digital and forensic evidence presented at trial and what they described as Routh’s clear intent: to kill Trump.

“This was not a publicity stunt,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Browne told the jury. “The evidence has shown one thing and one thing only — the defendant wanted Donald Trump dead,” Browne said, adding that the worst part was that he “almost got away” with it.

Browne told jurors that Routh had “traveled on 17 separate occasions to scope out the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach,” excessively stalking Trump’s activities and location for weeks prior to his assassination attempt from a “sniper’s nest” on September 15, 2024 – just two months after Trump was shot in the ear by a different man at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer pointed out some bizarre details about the case.

She wrote: “Ryan Routh is on trial for the attempted assassination of President Trump. Deliberations will likely begin today. Routh represented himself. Routh also challenged Trump to a round of golf. If Trump won, Routh said he’d agree to be executed. If Routh won, Routh said he should go free. Routh also motioned the court for strippers and a putting green. He had nothing to lose ;).”

The late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk had commented on the case back in December.

“The Trump Assassination Task Force reveals that the Secret Service Agent who spotted Ryan Routh in the trees at the golf course, opened fire on the suspect and… MISSED HIM SIX TIMES FROM FIVE FEET AWAY!! How is that possible?” Kirk asked.

Sadly, Kirk would become a victim of a “sniper” himself on September 10.
