NEWS ALERT: Joe Biden to honor Liz Cheney with MEDAL

From the Washington Post: President Joe Biden will honor former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney and 19 others on Thursday with the Presidential Citizens Medal, a tribute given to those who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or fellow Americans.

Biden will bestow the honor on Cheney — one of the GOP’s most outspoken critics of President-elect Donald Trump, who joined Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris on the campaign trail last year in a bipartisan push to defeat him — less than three weeks before Trump is inaugurated.

Cheney served as vice chair of the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, and in October, she urged Americans to reject his “depraved cruelty” as she rallied alongside Harris. A majority of voters were not persuaded by that argument.

Biden will also be giving a Presidential Citizens Medal to Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), who served as the chairman of the Jan. 6 House select committee.

A White House press release provides the full list of people who will be receiving the medals.

“Throughout two decades in public service, including as a Congresswoman for Wyoming and Vice Chair of the Committee on the January 6 attack, Liz Cheney has raised her voice—and reached across the aisle—to defend our Nation and the ideals we stand for: Freedom. Dignity. And decency. Her integrity and intrepidness remind us all what is possible if we work together,” Biden’s statement about Cheney reads.

About Thompson, Biden’s statement reads, “Born and raised in a segregated Mississippi, as a college student inspired by the Civil Rights movement, Bennie Thompson volunteered on campaigns and registered southern Black voters. That call to serve eventually led him to Congress, where he chaired the House January 6th Committee—at the forefront of defending the rule of law with unwavering integrity and a steadfast commitment to truth.”

The White House ceremony is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm ET Thursday.

Social media has erupted over the news, with conservatives declaring Cheney should be in jail, and liberals calling for Biden to issue a preemptive pardon for her.

Students for Trump chair Ryan Fournier declared, “Liz Cheney sat on a mantle and fed millions of Americans lies over J6. Now she is being awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal from Joe Biden. That’s ridiculous.”

Newsmax anchor Greta Van Susteren quipped, “Should add ⁦@mirandadevine [New York Post columnist Miranda Devine] for⁩ exposing the conspiracy to hide Hunter’s laptop during election season 2020; she did what no other journalist did.”

Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist wrote, “President Biden rewards Liz Cheney for her witness tampering and obstruction of justice in the J6 show trial she ran. Discrediting to everyone.”

“Just when I think the Biden administration can’t do anything more inane, they prove me wrong, @Liz_Cheney gets a medal for destroying evidence and attempting to falsely convict @realDonaldTrump. Complete bullshit,” declared retired Air Force Pilot and former carrier of the ‘Nuke football,’ Buzz Patterson.

“Let’s translate: Biden is rewarding Liz Cheney and Bernie Thompson for attempting to frame Donald Trump for a crime they knew he did not commit,” wrote Cash Loren.

Ken Crow wrote, “So, you withhold evidence to railroad a #POTUS in a kangaroo court, and you get rewarded with a medal. Unbelievable!”
