NEWS ALERT: It Turns Out DOGE Isn’t Dead — Despite The Media Hysteria

5

From the Daily CallerThe Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is still up and running, despite recent reports stating the agency had quietly been disbanded, an administration official told the Daily Caller.

Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Scott Kupor said at a recent event that DOGE as a “centralized entity” no longer exists, Reuters reported Sunday. An administration official told the Caller that DOGE is still an operational agency that will continue to execute on its mission until May 2026.

The central office of DOGE continues to have a staff that is assisting with agency projects, the administration official added to the Caller.

Reuters published an exclusive report on Sunday, titled, “DOGE ‘doesn’t exist’ with eight months left on its charter.”

However, DOGE fired back in a statement Monday evening:

As usual, this is fake news from @Reuters. President Trump was given a mandate by the American people to modernize the federal government and reduce waste, fraud and abuse. Just last week, DOGE terminated 78 wasteful contracts and saved taxpayers $335M. We’ll be back in a few days with our regularly scheduled Friday update. 🇺🇸

Kupor also scolded Reuters, saying they spliced his comments to create a fake headline.  He wrote:

“Good editing by @reuters – spliced my full comments across paragraphs 2/3 to create a grabbing headline 🙂 The truth is: DOGE may not have centralized leadership under @USDS. But, the principles of DOGE remain alive and well: de-regulation; eliminating fraud, waste and abuse; re-shaping the federal workforce; making efficiency a first-class citizen; etc. DOGE catalyzed these changes; the agencies along with @USOPM and @WHOMB will institutionalize them! Here’s the real story – https://opm.gov/news/secrets-of-opm/everyone-has-a-plan-until-you-step-into-the-ring/.”

Elon Musk responded, “Reuters lies relentlessly.”

On Sunday, DOGE had just announced:

Contracts Update!

Over the last 9 days, agencies terminated and descoped 78 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.9B and savings of $335M, including an $616k HHS IT services contract for “social media monitoring platform subscription”, an $191k USAGM broadcasting contract for “broadcast operations and maintenance in Ethiopia, Africa”, and a $4.3M IRS IT services contract for “Inflation Reduction Act transformation project management support”.
