From Fox News: An illegal immigrant with an extensive criminal background was arrested for attempting to kidnap and rape a stranger he captured on a popular Virginia trail days after being released from jail, according to police.
During a press conference Monday evening, the Herndon Police Department announced that Denis Humberto Naverrette Romero, 31, was charged with abduction with intent to defile and rape a stranger he grabbed off a trail.
“Let me start by saying that I am incredibly saddened and outraged that a crime like this could happen here in the town of Herndon,” said Herndon Police Chief Maggie DeBoard.
“This is the only stranger rape that we have had in the town in my more than 12 years as chief of police,” DeBoard continued.
The report does not mention when Denis Humberto Naverrette Romero, an illegal alien from Honduras, arrived in the United States. However, he has racked up a lengthy criminal history in Virginia, dating back to at least 2022, including weapons crimes and auto theft, and then escalating to a number of sexual assaults and indecent exposure incidents.
Romero is homeless and has been in and out of jail, but never served any significant time as prosecutors have repeatedly reduced charges against him to lower offenses and turned him loose.
Fox5DC reported that Romero choked a Herndon police officer in June 2022 when they were responding to a groping incident and was later released.
Last Monday evening, around 9:00 pm, a woman reportedly asked a passerby for help, saying a man had grabbed her while she was jogging on a trail, threw her to the ground and raped her. She was able to fight him off and run for help, and police located and arrested Romero shortly afterwards.
Prior to the rape on November 18, Romero had just been released from jail four days earlier for a previous incident. Fox5DC writes:
Romero was once again taken into custody on Oct. 19 for indecent exposure and was sentenced to 50 days behind bars but he was released 25 days early, on Nov. 14, based on a ‘good behavior law’ in Virginia.
Just four days later, he was arrested for raping a woman on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Herndon.
Romero is now being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

A SECOND woman has also come forward to say she was attacked by the same man:
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) reacted to the case, writing on social media, “I am heartsick for this victim and outraged that local Fairfax County officials recklessly release violent illegal immigrants who should have been prosecuted and deported. This is a dereliction of their most basic duty to keep people safe. Prioritizing violent illegal immigrants over the safety of Fairfax residents is unacceptable. Virginia is not a sanctuary state. When President Trump takes office, the political posturing will end, and localities will cooperate with ICE to protect Virginians.”

Serious questions are being asked as to why the illegal alien had not been deported due to his lengthy criminal record. Instead, he was freed and allowed to continue his criminal rampage.
It appears Fairfax County arrested this illegal alien from Honduras on 10/20/24 for indecent exposure. He was sentenced to 50 days in jail on 11/13/24. Why wasn’t he turned over to ICE and deported? Instead he was released and to stalk and rape a Herndon woman. https://t.co/bNUNYbSkhi pic.twitter.com/xEN5nhj6Hi
