From the Daily Caller: A Guatemalan illegal alien fleeing ICE killed a Georgia teacher Monday after blowing through a red light and slamming into her vehicle, federal and local officials said.
Oscar Vasquez Lopez, 38, initially complied when ICE agents attempted a traffic stop in Chatham County but then made a “reckless” U-turn and fled, running a red light before colliding with a civilian vehicle, according to an ICE statement.
The driver, Hesse K-8 teacher Linda Davis, died at the hospital. Lopez remains hospitalized with minor injuries and in custody. He faces charges including first-degree homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, driving without a license, and failure to obey a traffic control device.
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem posted Lopez’s photo and wrote:
An innocent American has lost their life because a criminal illegal alien attempted to evaded arrest. Yesterday in Savannah, Georgia, ICE conducted a traffic stop to arrest Oscar Vasquez Lopez, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala. He was issued a final order of removal by a federal judge in 2024.
When Lopez fled the scene, he made a reckless U-turn and collided with a civilian’s vehicle. The civilian driver sustained fatal injuries. Lopez is now in custody and is being charged by the Chatham County Police Department with vehicular homicide.
DHS law enforcement will continue to remove illegal aliens from all states and communities. If you are here illegally, use the CBP Home app to self-deport.

The Hesse K-8 school principal announced the teacher’s death in a memo to parents, which was posted on Facebook.
“I wanted to make our families aware that our school has experienced the death of a teacher, who was killed in a traffic accident this morning just outside the school. Dr. Linda Davis was a beloved member of our school family and her loss has affected us deeply,” the principal wrote.
Democrats are already trying to spin it, and blame the teacher’s death on ICE.
Faith M. Jackson wildly claimed, “ICE killed a teacher in Georgia today when they chose to chase a man who posed no danger and had no criminal history. Linda Davis was killed by ICE today. A Black woman, a beloved teacher, killed by ICE in Savannah, Georgia.”
ICE fired back with the following statement:
This is an utterly disgusting lie. A Guatemalan criminal illegal alien fled from law enforcement and crashed into another vehicle, killing Linda Davis — an American citizen and beloved teacher at Hesse K-8.
This tragic loss of life at the hands of someone who shouldn’t be here could have been prevented. Our prayers are with the Savannah, GA, community and the family of Linda Davis.

In the press release, the DHS blasted the “sanctuary politicians” who have been encouraging illegal aliens to flee ICE agents – which has now resulted in the death of an American school teacher. The press release reads:
After months of sanctuary politicians encouraging and instructing illegal aliens to resist and evade federal law enforcement, a criminal illegal alien attempting to flee from ICE law enforcement struck and killed a motorist in Savannah.
On Feb. 16, ICE law enforcement officers attempted to apprehend Oscar Vasquez Lopez, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala who was issued a final order of removal by a federal judge in 2024. He entered the U.S. illegally on an unknown date and at an unknown location.
During the operation, officers observed Vasquez Lopez enter a vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Vasquez Lopez initially complied but then fled the scene, making a reckless U-turn and running a red light, colliding into a civilian vehicle. The civilian driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Vasquez Lopez is in custody at the hospital with minor injuries and is being charged by the Chatham County Police Department with vehicular homicide.
“This vehicular homicide is an absolute tragedy and deadly consequence of politicians and the media constantly demonizing ICE officers and encouraging those here illegally to resist arrest — a felony,” said Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “These dangerous tactics are putting people’s lives at risk. Fleeing from and resisting federal law enforcement is not only a crime but extraordinarily dangerous and puts oneself, our officers and innocent civilians at risk. Now, an innocent bystander has lost their life.”
This dangerous attempt to evade arrest comes after sanctuary politicians held webinars and provided resources and tips for how to openly defy ICE:
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hosted a webinar in February providing tips for illegal aliens to evade arrests at homes, workplaces or in public.
- Dan Goldman posted a video online calling on illegal aliens to make a plan for ICE encounters.
- Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued multilingual flyers and online resources advising illegal aliens on how to evade arrest.
- California Governor Gavin Newsom released guides and sanctuary laws advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry and defy arrest.
We are once again calling on sanctuary politicians, agitators, and the media to turn the temperature down and stop calling for violence and resistance against ICE law enforcement.
