According to the conditions of the Israel-Hamas peace agreement, Israeli military forces pulled back out of Gaza to a designated “yellow line” area, after previously controlling nearly 80% of the Gaza Strip.
But on Monday, even as the peace agreement was going into effect and the Israeli hostages were being freed, multiple “Gaza suspects” crossed the yellow line, to apparently deadly consequences.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Tuesday morning:
Earlier today, several suspects were spotted crossing the yellow line and approaching IDF troops in northern Gaza, a clear violation of the agreement.
After multiple attempts to distance them, the suspects refused to comply, prompting troops to open fire to remove the threat. Reports of terrorists infiltrating an IDF position are incorrect.
The IDF urges Gaza residents to follow instructions and keep their distance from IDF troops.
