The same apartment complex who made headlines months ago when illegal alien Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang members started taking over apartments and causing residents to flee is back in the news.

There are reportedly about 30,000 to 40,000 illegal alien Venezuelans now living in the Denver/Aurora area.

Monday night, a mob of over a dozen gang members was busted after kidnapping a couple, beating and robbing them. The couple was finally able to flee and called police hours later.

The Aurora Police Department posted the following announcement on X Tuesday morning:

Fourteen people have been detained by Aurora police after officers responded to a report of a home invasion with weapons at The Edge at Lowry Apartments.

Just before 2:30 a.m., Aurora police patrol officers responded to a report of an armed home invasion involving a stabbing and kidnapping at an apartment in the 1200 block of Dallas Street. The preliminary investigation suggests several suspects entered an apartment occupied by two people. The suspects moved the victims to another apartment on the property, where they were threatened and bound. An adult male sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound during the incident.

After some time, the victims were released by the suspects, at which point they called 911. Multiple Aurora police patrol units responded to the scene. Fourteen people have been detained and are being questioned by investigators.

We are still at the very early stages of the investigation. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Aurora Police Department then held a press briefing about the incident later Tuesday morning.

Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said the couple was attacked by a large group consisting of 13 males and 3 of those are “possibly females.”

He said the two victims, a male and a female, were taken to a different location within the same complex against their will, were bound, pistol-whipped, beaten, victimized and terrorized.

During this time, some of the suspects left, went to the victims’ apartment and burglarized it.

Around 1:50 a.m., the victims begged to be released, promising they would not notify the police if they were set free. The thugs released the victims, who went to their vehicle and drove to a friend’s home, where they then called police.

Police responded to the call, went to interview the victims, then went to the crime scene and found 15 suspects all in one apartment.

Chamberlain said he is working with the DHS and ICE to determine the identities and immigration status of the suspects, but later added that they are all believed to be illegal alien Venezuelan gang members.

He said both victims are being treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  Chamberlain commended the victims for coming forward, noting that since they too are illegal aliens from Venezuela, it took courage for them to report the crime.

Like many gangs, they victimize their own race and their own ethnicity… because they are easy victims, and they know that because of their status, they likely won’t report it to the police, he explained.

Chamberlain said the same apartment complex has been “crime-riddled,” and is the same complex that has already gained nationwide attention.
