From the New York Post: A heroic ROTC student fatally stabbed the crazed ISIS-linked gunman who opened fire inside an Old Dominion University classroom Thursday, preventing further carnage, law enforcement sources said.

Shooter Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, 36, gunned down an instructor before the unidentified cadet jumped into action to put an end to the suspected terror attack on the Virginia college campus, according to sources.

Jalloh, who was previously convicted of trying to support ISIS, walked into the classroom and asked if it was an ROTC class, sources told The Post.

When someone told him it was, he began his trail of bloodshed, which the FBI is investigating as an act of terrorism.

Jalloh shot and killed the ROTC instructor, a retired military officer. He also shot two other students in the classroom, who are both reportedly in stable condition. They are both members of the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at the university,

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed:

Earlier today, an armed individual opened fire at Old Dominion University, leaving one person dead and two others wounded. The shooter is now deceased thanks to a group of brave students who stepped in and subdued him – actions that undoubtedly saved lives along with the quick response of law enforcement.

The FBI is now investigating the shooting as an act of terrorism. Our Joint Terrorism Task Force is fully engaged, embedded with local authorities, and providing all resources necessary in the investigation.

In the meantime, please pray for the victims, their families, and the ODU community.

Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former member of the Army National Guard, was first arrested in July 2016 for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), now known as ISIS.

Jalloh was a naturalized U.S. citizen from Sierra Leone.

Below is a chilling excerpt from a Justice Department press release in July 2016:

According to court documents, Jalloh met with the CHS on two occasions in April and May 2016. During the April meeting, Jalloh told the CHS that he was a former member of the Army National Guard, but that he had decided to quit after listening to online lectures by Anwar al-Aulaqi, a deceased leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Jalloh stated that he recently had taken a six-month trip to Africa, where he had met with ISIL members in Nigeria and first began communicating online with the ISIL member who later brokered his introduction to the CHS.

During their meeting, Jalloh also told the CHS that he often thought about conducting an attack and that he knew how to shoot guns. Jalloh praised the gunman who killed five U.S. military members in a terrorist attack in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in July 2015, and stated that he had been thinking about conducting an attack similar to the November 2009 attack at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Jalloh was sentenced in 2017 to 11 years in prison for providing support to ISIS, but, according to his Federal Bureau of Prisons record, he was released early in December 2024, during the Biden administration.
