From the Associated Press: The Federal Emergency Management Agency can meet immediate needs but does not have enough funding to make it through the hurricane season, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told reporters Wednesday.

The agency is being stretched as it works with states to assess damage from Hurricane Helene and delivers meals, water, generators and other critical supplies. The storm struck Florida last week, then plowed through several states in the Southeast, flooding towns and killing more than 160 people.

Mayorkas was not specific about how much additional money the agency may need, but his remarks on Air Force One underscored concerns voiced by President Joe Biden and some lawmakers earlier this week that Congress may need to pass a supplemental spending bill this fall to help states with recovery efforts.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” Mayorkas said. “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

Hurricane season runs June 1 to Nov. 30, but most hurricanes typically occur in September and October.

Just last week, on Sept. 25, Congress approved $20 billion for FEMA funding as part of a short-term government spending bill to fund the government through Dec. 20. The bill also gave FEMA flexibility to draw on the money more quickly as needed, the AP wrote.

House Speaker Mike Johnson reminded that $20 billion has already been provided. He wrote in a social media post Wednesday night, “Kelly and I continue to pray for the families and communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. Our hearts break for all those who are suffering. Last week, Congress provided over $20 billion in disaster relief funding for FEMA, ensuring the immediate needs of the people could be addressed. As more assessments come in, and needs are identified, Congress will do its part to help these communities recover.”

Where is the money going?  Some of FEMA funds are being provided to help communities “receiving migrants.”

In August, the Department of Homeland Security announced “$300 Million in Direct Funding to Communities Receiving Migrants and $340 Million for a New Competitive Awards Process.”  And that’s just one example.

America First Legal blasted Mayorkas, pointing out that some FEMA funds are being redirected to illegal aliens.

MAYORKAS: “We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.”

The Biden-Harris FEMA spent over $1 BILLION on funding illegal aliens.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott responded to the news.

“This is easy. Mayorkas and FEMA — immediately stop spending money on illegal immigration resettlement and redirect those funds to areas hit by the hurricane. Put Americans first,” Abbott wrote.

“Yeah!” Elon Musk replied.

Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) declared in fury, “”Mayorkas says FEMA doesn’t have enough money to make it through hurricane season, but apparently it had enough to spend $1B resettling illegal aliens into the U.S. over the past few years. That’s the Biden/Harris admin summed up in a nutshell. They put Americans last, always.”

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) wrote, “Apparently Mayorkas illegally gave $941 million @fema dollars to illegals and now tells us he will need more to take care of Americans?”

Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin had another idea. “Mayorkas announced that FEMA does not have enough money to make it through hurricane season. Hey Congress, how about you stop funding worthless junk like squirrel bridges and fund FEMA! PUT AMERICA FIRST” she wrote.

Dr. Robert Malone unleashed his fury over the situation. He wrote:

Alejandro Mayorkas is demanding more money from Congress for FEMA.
President Joe Biden said that he may call Congress back to Washington for an emergency session to approve new disaster relief funding.

Of course, FEMA will need more money. Helene’s damage is vast. But so far, FEMA’s efforts have been a failure. Their protocol driven response – set up for a standard hurricane along the coastline is inadequate. They have been completely inflexible, unable to respond to this new disaster. Unable to even get help where it is needed most.

So far, FEMA has been ill prepared to handle the disaster in W. North Carolina. People are suffering, maybe dying because of FEMA’s poor response. Rescue efforts have been dismal.

The truth is that FEMA, under the thumb of the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) has been focused on DEI and climate change, as well as paying for illegal immigrants – at the behest of the White House.

For instance, a portion of FEMA funds have been diverted to help pay for migrants entering the country- including illegal aliens. This is not what FEMA should be focused on! This is an unethical – that money is reserved for emergency response.

Congress made a huge mistake in placing FEMA under DHS – through the Patriot Act.
FEMA must be a non-politicized agency, not under the thumb of the executive branch – who directs DHS (in this case, the Biden administration).

DHS is the same corrupted agency now in charge of the Secret Service.
DHS is a corrupted organization from the get go and needs to be disbanded or reorganized.

And here’s another fed-up American. Warning: Profanity alert!
