From Fox News: A distinguished Detroit-area pastor has died after an illegal immigrant from Colombia allegedly struck him with a car while he was out for a run on the morning of Nov. 3.

Pastor Stephen Singleton’s family said on a GoFundMe page for the 72-year-old pastor that he was “out on his usual daily run,” wearing a reflective vest when he crossed the street on a crosswalk and “was hit by a man who ran through a red light.”

“This man was not legally in the country and possessed no license,” Singleton’s family wrote. “[Singleton] was struck so hard that he was thrown on the windshield, breaking it. The car was damaged and had to be towed. He spoke the last words he would ever speak. He asked for my grandmother. Almost all his bones were broken. He had organ and brain damage and required extensive surgeries. The doctor placed him on life support. On November 8, 2024, he was declared brain dead and taken off support.”

The illegal alien who struck Singleton was described by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office as a 28-year-old man from Columbia, who was driving a 2013 Ford Focus. The man possessed a foreign driver’s license, which is a valid form of ID in Michigan.

“Under Michigan state law, non-citizens are permitted to drive with a foreign license as long as it is either printed in English or accompanied by an English translation,” a report by the Christian Post explained.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has confirmed that the Columbian man entered the U.S. illegally and was then released with a notice to appear at a future date.

It appears that local law enforcement may not be releasing the illegal alien’s identity, as in all the reports found in the media about the horrific incident, none have mentioned the man’s name or provided his mugshot.

However, Fox News did share the following details:

No arrests had been made in the case as of Monday. Authorities presented the case to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, which is reviewing the case and will determine whether any charges will be filed against the driver.

“I had to sit and watch my husband of 53 years die in front of me and then to know that the person who did this is walking around is very difficult to deal with,” said Singleton’s heartbroken wife, Teri Singleton.

According to Fox2Detroit, Singleton was a well-known area pastor who would do anything for anyone. As a former medic, Singleton had traveled to New York City to help victims of the 9/11 terror attack in 2001, and had assisted in the search for survivors at Ground Zero.

Local medics then desperately tried to save Singleton’s life when he was struck by a car driven by an illegal alien.

A GoFundMe account set up for the family has only brought in $2,850 as of this report.

WATCH THE REPORT BELOW, as Singleton’s family questions why the illegal alien who struck and killed the pastor has been allowed to remain free.  Again, the illegal alien’s identity appears to still be a mystery.

Michigan State Rep. Matt Hall (R) wrote last week, “Today, in light of this tragedy, Speaker Tate should announce he will not move the driver’s licenses for illegals bill during lame duck. Awarding driver’s licenses to illegals not only incentivizes criminal invaders, but also jeopardizes public safety for #MI families.”
