Election polling expert Nate Silver has released an update on his predictions about the presidential election, and has increased Trump’s chances of winning back the White House.
Last week, Silver was giving Trump a 53% chancing of winning the November 5 election, but he has increased that to a 55% chance as of Monday afternoon.
In his updated election forecast, Silver noted that recent polls give Trump good numbers for Minnesota and New Hampshire, as well as a 1-point increase in Wisconsin, which means that state is now a toss-up.
Today’s update. Weird set of surveys today and it seems like pollsters are getting into the Halloween spirit. 🎃
At least not as much herding as usual.
Overall a good day for Trump based on polls in WI and NH.https://t.co/vsGVG18HHI pic.twitter.com/iumg0nc62b

In another report published Monday, Silver wrote about Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York, and noted that it definitely put Trump back in the headlines.
“Do swing voters care about New York Times headlines? Absolutely not, which is why it’s strange that the Times’s critics are so obsessed with them. But there’s some initial evidence that the rally is drawing broader attention: today and yesterday are the top days of Google search traffic for Trump since the second assassination attempt against him in September,” Silver wrote.
He pointed out the possibility that the controversial comments made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at the rally may hurt Trump slightly.
“I really want to avoid any conclusion that this is some sort of last-minute game-changer. It probably won’t matter. But it’s getting a lot of attention. Google searches for Tony Hinchcliffe are currently higher than those for Taylor Swift,” he wrote.

“And searches for Trump are up too, to the highest level since the second assassination attempt,” Silver added.
