Since a foreign-born Democrat congress member announced Monday that he has filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, the spotlight has now turned back on himself, and some disturbing information has resurfaced.

Rep. Shri Thanedar, 70, was born in India. He came to the United States in 1979 to attend the University of Arkron in Ohio, and became a U.S. citizen in 1988. Thanedar first served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2021 to 2023. He has served in the U.S. Congress since January 2023.

Thanedar announced Monday, “I have introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump. When Trump ignores the Constitution, Congress, and the courts, he is not “fighting for America.” He is tearing it down and endangering our democracy.”

“Trump’s attacks on due process, birthright citizenship, humanitarian aid, and the courts are not “politics.” They are a direct attack on our democracy,” Thanedar also wildly claimed as he announced his efforts to impeach President Trump.

NOW THE SPOTLIGHT IS TURNED ON THANEDAR:

Investigative journalist Laura Loomer rolled out the “receipts” on Monday, and revealed that he is DEEP in debt, according to FEC records.  Loomer first wrote:

FEC records reveal that “Shri for Congress,” the campaign of Democrat Michigan Congressman Shri Thanedar @RepShriThanedar, who filed impeachment articles against President Trump today, is deep in debt, with a deficit of -$730,313.81, according to FEC records reviewed by @LoomerUnleashed.

Shri Thanedar was born in India. Now he’s trying to impeach a US President.

This financial hole stems from a staggering -$1,208,286.58 payment recorded on February 28, 2025. According to the FEC filing, the reason for this negative payment is “INVESTMENT INCOME LOSS.” Curiously, Shri Thanedar himself is listed as the recipient of this negative payment.

Is “Getting Trump” a game reserved for those who grift the hardest? Is @RepShriThanedar filing articles of impeachment against President Trump as a political stunt so he can raise money to pay off his nearly $800,000 campaign debt, that he wants to put back into his own pockets as a “INVESTMENT INCOME LOSS”?

Sure looks like it! @SpeakerJohnson should investigate. But we all know the House Republicans won’t do a thing!

In another post, Loomer added:

🚨 ATTENTION MAGA 🚨 The articles of impeachment against President Trump is a financial scam, and @LoomerUnleashed has just proven it and exposed it.

Basically, @RepShriThanedar has nearly $800,000 in campaign debt from his own self financing. He’s trying to use the articles of impeachment as a financial scam to have donors donate to “IMPEACH TRUMP”, and then he’s going to use the money to get himself out of debt, as you can see from his FEC filings below.

The DCCC will promote his fundraising links to help him get out of debt. That’s why he was chosen to file the articles of impeachment. It’s a scam. Don’t let anyone gaslight you and tell you it’s legitimate. @RepShriThanedar is from India and now he’s trying to scam real Americans with blood ties to the soil of our nation so he can get out of debt. Maybe he should be deported.

If the GOP had any balls, they would investigate him. @SpeakerJohnson

Wait, there’s more…

🚨 INDIAN DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN WHO FILED ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT AGAINST PRESIDENT TRUMP TODAY HAS A HISTORY OF FINANCIAL SCAMS, HAS BEEN ACCUSED OF FRAUD MULTIPLE TIMES IN COURT FILINGS 🚨

In 2016, The Detroit News reported on a lawsuit against Shri Thanedar @RepShriThanedar for making “fraudulent and misleading claims to inflate the value of his company, which he sold in a deal that pocketed him roughly $20 million.”

The article also revealed that Thanedar’s St. Louis-based Chemical Analysis company crumbled when a lender dragged him to court. A bankruptcy judge then appointed a receiver to liquidate the business.

This is the same Thanedar who is in $730,313.81 of campaign debt and just filed impeachment articles against President Trump today so he can raise money to pay off his Congressional campaign debt, which he has listed on his most recent FEC filings as “INVESTMENT INCOME LOSS”.

Charles Downs, a reporter for Loomer, then approached Thanedar in the halls of Congress. Thanedar claimed President Trump has “done unconstitutional activities.”

“What about your history of scamming people?” Downs asked, adding, “If you hate President Trump so much, why don’t you just go back to India?”

WATCH THIS:

Thanedar evidently spent a pile of money to have a billboard displayed in Michigan, touting his efforts to impeach President Trump.

“Donald Trump arrives in Michigan today to celebrate his first 100 days in office. Here’s how I’ll be greeting him,” he taunted on Tuesday.

Loomer pounced, asking where he got the money to put up a billboard. She wrote:

As @LoomerUnleashed exposed yesterday, the most recent FEC records, which includes receipts till March 31st of this year, reveal that Democrat Michigan Congressman @RepShriThanedar Shri Thanedar’s campaign has nearly $800,000 in debt.

So, how did Shri Thanedar afford the anti-Trump billboards he had erected in Michigan ahead of President Trump’s arrival today? He has NEGATIVE $800,000 in his campaign account!

Something tells me the next FEC report will reveal that Shri Thanedar suddenly became popular with Democrat donors in mid-April and that he “reimbursed” himself a large chunk of that $800,000! He should be investigated for campaign finance fraud.

During the rally in Michigan Tuesday evening, President Trump reacted to the news that Thanedar has filed impeachment articles against him.

WATCH:

ANIMAL TESTING LAB SCANDAL: Thanedar made an unsuccessful run for governor of Michigan in 2018. During his campaign, the Huffington Post published a disturbing report on April 25, 2018 about an animal testing lab Thanedar used to own.

Below is an excerpt from the Huffington Post report:

About 170 dogs and monkeys were rescued in 2010 from an abandoned pharmaceutical testing lab owned by Shri Thanedar, a Michigan Democratic gubernatorial candidate currently leading in the polls.

Thanedar had to shutter the New Jersey testing facility, AniClin Preclinical Services, after its parent company, Azopharma, which he owned, went bankrupt in April 2010.

Local animal rights activists learned in June of that year that 118 beagles were still stuck inside the facility. The lab’s workers had been jumping the lab’s fences to provide food and water for the dogs, according to a USA Today report.

Two animal welfare groups teamed up to find homes for the beagles and were finally able to take them from the shuttered lab on July 4 to shelters, where they would be matched with adoptive families. A video report conducted by the Times Herald-Record, based in Middletown, New York, showed the dogs arriving in a van from the lab to a staging area where volunteers groomed and attended to the forlorn animals.

Even before the beagles were abandoned, they led lonely lives in small plexiglass crates where they were subject to toxicology tests.

A few days later, the California-based group In Defense of Animals rescued 55 long-tailed macaque monkeys that had been left in the shuttered AniClin testing facility.

“No animal was harmed or subjected to any harmful conditions. No electric experiments were conducted,” Thanedar claimed in 2018.

He also tried to cast blame, claiming, “It is my understanding that Bank of America made arrangements to assign caretakers for the animals and secure homes for them, but those decisions came from the bank after I left the company. I am an animal lover and completely understand the sensitivity of this issue.”

Huffington Post indicated that Thanedar had made a pile of money in the chemical testing business. He also touted in campaign ads that he was the “most progressive candidate in the race.”
