From Fox News: Democrats succeeded Thursday in delaying a committee vote to advance the confirmation of FBI director nominee Kash Patel until next week at least.

The vote, which was slated to happen at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, was pushed to next week after Senate Democrats demanded a second hearing from the Trump-aligned former Defense Department official, citing concerns about his previous remarks and candor.

In a statement Tuesday night, Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa., said attempts by top Judiciary Democrat Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and others to force Patel to testify again were “baseless” as he already sat before the committee for more than five hours and disclosed “thousands of pages” of records to the panel, as well as nearly 150 pages of responses to lawmakers’ written questions.

At a press briefing Thursday morning, Democrats criticized Patel for both his previous actions and his remarks made on podcasts, social media and in his book, saying that in their view, Patel failed to assuage any of their concerns last week during his nearly six-hour confirmation hearing, including questions of whether he would take moves to ensure the bureau can continue to act without political interference.

Durbin raged against a book Patel has published, which he claims is filled with conspiracy theories.   He also noted that the FBI Director position is a 10-year term, and claimed Patel is unfit to serve.

Patel has vowed to release the Jeffrey Epstein client list once he is in charge at the FBI.

Meanwhile, Senator Dick Durbin (Dem-IL) has repeatedly BLOCKED subpoenas for the Jeffrey Epstein flight logs, and now he is leading the charge to block Patel’s confirmation vote.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) wrote, “Unbelievable. Democrat Senators are running scared. They’re terrified that @Kash_Patel is going to reform the 7th floor of the Hoover Building, arrest bad guys, and end 4 years of liberal weaponized government. Delay tactics are just that. Kash WILL BE CONFIRMED.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley released the following statement, blasting Democrats’ efforts to delay Patel’s confirmation.

In a post on X Thursday afternoon, Grassley declared, “The whistleblower records I’ve released clearly show Biden DOJ Trump prosecutions were corrupt from the start. That undermines any faith in the Grand Jury process that required Kash Patel to testify. I won’t let this corrupt process play out further in Committee.”

Grassley then announced, “Sen Judiciary Committee plans to vote Kash Patel’s nomination out of committee next Thurs. 2/13.”
