From Fox News: Court records obtained by Fox News Digital revealed a man charged in a violent stabbing on a Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail on Friday is an illegal immigrant who was previously deported.
Oscar Solarzano, 33, was arrested in connection with the stabbing and is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury, breaking/entering a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and intoxicated/disruptive behavior, according to arrest warrants obtained by Fox News Digital.
Bond was not set due to Solarzano being an illegal immigrant who was previously deported, according to a release order filed in Mecklenburg County.
According to the report, an intoxicated Solarzano broke into a railroad car Friday evening, armed with a large fixed-blade knife. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to a call around 4:49 p.m. regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, Kenyon Kareem-Shemar Dobie, in critical condition with a stab wound. Solarzano had reportedly challenged Dobie to a fight, and was shouting and cursing at others nearby.
This comes after Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, 23, was stabbed to death on a light rail train in Charlotte on August 22.
Court records show that Solarzano has gone by multiple aliases including Solarzano-Garcia, Oscar Herardo and Kevin Garcia. After his arrest for the stabbing on Friday, he was reportedly provided with a Spanish interpreter.
He has already been deported twice – first by the first Trump administration in 2018. In March 2021 he snuck back across the border during the Biden administration, and was deported a second time. At some point, he came back to the U.S. a third time.
Local police recorded Solarzano as a “white male” on the arrest records.

President Donald Trump voiced his outrage writing on Truth Social, “Another stabbing by an Illegal Migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina. What’s going on in Charlotte? Democrats are destroying it, like everything else, piece by piece!!! President DJT.”
Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin posted the following statement:
Oscar Gerardo Solorzano-Garcia, an illegal alien from Honduras, is being charged with attempted first-degree murder after he stabbed a victim with a large knife on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina. ICE lodged a detainer to ensure this criminal illegal is not released back into North Carolina neighborhoods. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the county will honor the detainer since they have a history of not cooperating with @ICEGov.
His criminal history includes prior arrests for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, destroying evidence, resisting arrest, using a false ID, and convictions for robbery and illegally re-entry.
This criminal illegal alien was issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge in 2018 and removed by the Trump Administration on March 9, 2018. He was apprehended illegally crossing the border again in 2021 and was again removed. He entered the country illegally for a THIRD time at an unknown date and location.
