  1. From NEW YORK POST: Oscar-nominated actor Graham Greene has died.

The Canadian star passed away on Monday, in a Toronto hospital with his wife, Hilary Blackmore, by his side, his rep confirmed.

Greene — known for his roles in classic films like “Dances with Wolves” and “The Green Mile” — was a man of high moral character who will be missed, his rep added in a statement to The Post, noting the star was “finally free.”

He did not reveal Greene’s cause of death; however, the actor’s rep said he lost his battle with a “lengthy illness” but did not elaborate.


The actor died on Monday, Sept. 1, in a Toronto hospital, according to Deadline, the outlet that broke the story.

His agent, Michael Greene, told PEOPLE, “Michael Greene loved all he did for his people and for the world. He was a great man of Morals Ethics ❤️ Character and will be eternally missed. We love you, my brother greene. God bless you. You are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven, God bless you.”

Smith is Greene’s previous agent, PEOPLE explained. She died in October 2013.

Greene launched his film career in 1979, starring in the Canadian drama series “The Great Detective.” His big break came in 1990 with the the Oscar-winning picture “Dances with Wolves” starring Kevin Costner as a Civil War soldier who bonds with a Sioux tribe. Greene was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film as Kicking Bird.

Greene is also remembered for his roles in “Maverick” (1994), “Die Hard With a Vengeance” (1995), “The Green Mile” (1999), “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” (2009) and “Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game” (2017).

Actor Robert Patrick, of Terminator 2 fame, wrote on X: “Heartbroken to hear Graham Greene has passed. I had the privilege of working with him on The Outer Limits… I loved that man! Absolute legend.”

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips wrote on X: “Heartbroken. Terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Graham Greene at only 73.

“From Wolf Lake to Longmire, we had a beautiful friendship.

“An Actor’s Actor. One of the wittiest, wiliest, warmest people I’ve ever known. Iconic and Legendary. RIP, My Brother.”


Greene has had a long career with many roles and many fans.
