From Fox News: At least 28 people, including children, were injured on Thursday when a car driver drove into a crowd in Munich, Germany, police say. Initial reports indicate that some of those hit were critically injured.

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder says the crash is being treated as a “suspected attack.” Police identified the suspect as a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, BBC reported, adding that he was known to police for previous offenses.

This incident occurred just about a mile away from where world leaders are expected to gather for the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Friday, Reuters reported. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are among the expected conference attendees.

A spokesperson for the vice president told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that Vance and President Zelenskyy will meet on the sidelines of the conference, where the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war is likely to be a focus. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is attending the conference, will also reportedly participate in the meeting, according to the Associated Press.

Local officials have confirmed that at least one person has died from the vehicle attack.

Benedikt Franke, Vice-Chair & Chief Executive Officer for the Munich Security Conference, wrote, “Absolutely heartbroken to hear that one of the victims of today’s attack has died. As the police works to establish further details, one thing is crystal clear: there can be no justification for any of this. None!”

Without acknowledging that the driver was a Afghan migrant, the Munich Security Conference released the following statement: “We were deeply saddened to learn that a tragic incident occurred this morning in the #Munich city center in which a vehicle drove into a crowd of people. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. The emergency services are at the scene and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of this incident. We ask everyone to remain calm and follow the instructions of the authorities. The @PolizeiMuenchen will provide continuous updates on the current situation on its channels.”

Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst, who is in Munich to cover the conference, shared footage of the aftermath.

A crumbled child’s stroller was seen lying in the street among the debris left behind after the deadly attack.   The condition of the child is unknown.

Prominent X user Radio Genoa, who reports extensively on migrant crime in Europe, posted a photo, allegedly of the Afghan migrant who was driving the car.

The Munich Police Department has released the following statement, and say they will host a press conference about the deadly attack on Friday.

As previously reported, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at around 10:30 a.m., a man drove his car, a Mini Cooper, into the end of a moving assembly on Karlstrasse/Seidlstrasse. According to current information, he injured 30 people.

At this point, the gathering of around 1,500 participants was on its way to the final rally location in the direction of Königsplatz. Numerous emergency services accompanied the gathering, including by providing traffic control measures. This meant that the suspect could be arrested as quickly as possible and first aid measures could be initiated immediately for the injured.

The suspect is a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker residing in Munich who, according to current knowledge, had a valid residence permit at the time of the crime. He is currently known to the police from investigations in which he was listed as a witness due to his previous work as a store detective.

The forensic investigation measures in cooperation with the BLKA are still ongoing, which is why the crime scene is still cordoned off. The suspect has yet to appear before the investigating judge. The criminal investigation into him is ongoing. Approximately 300 police officers were deployed in this operation.

There will be a press conference about the event tomorrow, Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the media center (entrance Augustinerstrasse 2). Media representatives are invited.
