Mega Metal, a copper wire manufacturer based in Turkey, has announced plans to establish a new production facility in South Carolina.

The company is investing $34 million to build a 91,000-square-foot plant in Fairfield County, with operations expected to begin by September. This marks a massive expansion of the company’s global footprint and its first operation within the state.

The new facility will specialize in producing superfine electrolytic oxygen-free copper wire, a high-quality material used in various advanced technologies. Once fully operational, the plant is projected to manufacture approximately 55 million pounds of copper wire annually, significantly boosting local industrial output.

This investment is expected to create 135 new jobs in the area, providing a welcome boost to the local economy. The announcement coincides with South Carolina’s growing appeal as a hub for international manufacturers, particularly in advanced materials and high-tech industries.

Cuneyt Turgut, chairman of Mega Metal, described the move as a strategic commitment to the North American market. He emphasized the company’s desire to contribute to regional development and strengthen its relationships with American clients by operating closer to demand centers. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster welcomed the project, noting the state’s skilled workforce and favorable business environment. He praised the investment as a testament to South Carolina’s continued success in attracting global manufacturing leaders and supporting long-term economic growth.
