Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked U.S. President Donald Trump Wednesday night, after Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have “both signed off” on the first phase of a peace plan.
The full details of the peace agreement had not yet been released as of Wednesday night, but the deal reportedly included the stipulation that all remaining hostages will be released by Hamas.
The peace agreement comes just one day after the two-year anniversary of the horrific Hamas attack on Israel, on October 7, 2023, in which nearly 1,200 people were killed, and another 250 were taken hostage.
Netanyahu posted two statements on X. The first statement reads:
A great day for Israel. Tomorrow I will convene the government to approve the agreement and bring all our dear hostages home.
I thank the heroic soldiers of the IDF and all the security forces, thanks to whose courage and sacrifice we have reached this day.
I thank from the depths of my heart President Trump and his team for their mobilization for this sacred mission of releasing our hostages.
With the help of the Almighty, together we will continue to achieve all our goals and expand peace with our neighbors.

In a second statement also posted on X, Netanyahu wrote:
With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel.
From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved.
Through steadfast resolve, powerful military action, and the great efforts of our great friend and ally President Trump, we have reached this critical turning point.
I thank President Trump for his leadership, his partnership, and his unwavering commitment to the safety of Israel and the freedom of our hostages.

President Trump announced on Truth Social Wednesday evening:
I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace. All Parties will be treated fairly!
