FROM USA Today: The Trump administration is denying a report from MS NOW that the president is considering removing FBI Director Kash Patel amid recent scrutiny of his use of Bureau resources.
MS NOW, citing three unnamed sources, reported that Trump and those around him have been concerned about reporting on Patel.
The New York Times reported that a SWAT team from the Bureau served as security for Patel’s girlfriend at a National Rifle Association convention in Atlanta, and that Patel used a government jet for recreational travel.
In response, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took to X to deny the headline, saying that when she’d read it to Trump in the Oval Office during a meeting with Patel, the president denied the claim and asked to get a picture with Patel “to show them you’re doing a great job!”
Leavitt included the photo of the men standing next to each other with their thumbs up.
Leavitt wrote: “This story is completely made up. In fact, when this Fake News published, I was in the Oval Office, where President Trump was meeting with his law enforcement team, including FBI Director Kash Patel.
“I read the headline to the President and he laughed. He said: ‘What? That’s totally false. Come on Kash, let’s take a picture to show them you’re doing a great job!’
“Do not believe the Fake News!”

Later, aboard Air Force One for a trip to Florida, Trump was asked if he’s considering replacing Patel.
Trump said, “No.”
An MS NOW spokesperson responded in a statement, saying the outlet “stands behind its reporting.”
