James 1:19

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this:
Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

[From the New International Version]

This verse encourages a thoughtful and patient approach to communication and emotions. It advises us to listen attentively before responding and ensure they fully understand others before speaking.

By being “slow to speak,” individuals can avoid saying things they may regret, or that can escalate tensions through misunderstanding. “Slow to become angry” emphasizes controlling one’s temper to prevent destructive reactions.

James 1:19 teaches the value of patience, self-control, and empathy in fostering healthy relationships.
